2017 Festival Dates

The 2017 Melbourne International Film Festival dates are announced! We'll be waiting for you in the cinema from 3–20 August 2017. Until then:

2017 Film Submissions

Film submissions for MIFF 2017 are now open at the early bird rate, until 14 December. Filmmakers, we want you! Submit your film for consideration to be part of the 66th Melbourne International Film Festival. (Pictured: Kelly Reichardt, director of MIFF 2016's Certain Women).

MIFF has two rare job openings to join the team for the 2017 festival. Apply now for the Partnerships Coordinator or Marketing & Communications Coordinator positions. These are key roles in the festival team. Applications close on 27 November.

November MIFF Members' Screening

Our first MIFF Members' Screening for November is Queen of Katwe thanks to our friends at Disney and Cinema Nova

Queen of Katwe is the vibrant true story of a young girl from the streets of rural Uganda whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess and, as a result of the support she receives from her family and community, is instilled with the confidence and determination she needs to pursue her dream of becoming an international chess champion. Directed by Mira Nair from a screenplay by William Wheeler, Queen of Katwe stars Golden Globe® nominee David Oyelowo, Oscar® winner and Tony Award® nominee Lupita Nyong’o and newcomer Madina Nalwanga.
