In 1948, Frank Wisner was appointed director of the Office of Special Projects (OSP). Soon afterwards OSP was renamed the Office of Policy Coordination (OPC). This became the covert action branch of the Central Intelligence Agency. Wisner was told to create an organization that concentrated on "propaganda, economic warfare; preventive direct action, including sabotage, anti-sabotage, demolition and evacuation measures; subversion against hostile states, including assistance to underground resistance groups, and support of indigenous anti-Communist elements in threatened countries of the free world."
Later that year Wisner established Mockingbird, a program to influence foreign media. Wisner recruited Philip Graham from The Washington Post to run the project within the industry. According to Deborah Davis in Katharine the Great; "By the early 1950s, Wisner 'owned' respected members of The New York Times, Newsweek, CBS and other communications vehicles."
In 1951, Allen W. Dulles persuaded Cord Meyer to join the CIA. However, there is evidence that he was recruited several years earlier and had been spying on the liberal internationalist organizations he had been a member of in the late 1940s. According to Deborah Davis, Meyer became Mockingbird's "principal operative".

In 1977, a People article by Alexander Butler alleged that one of the most important journalists under the control of Operation Mockingbird was Joseph Alsop, whose foreign affairs articles appeared in over 300 different newspapers. Other journalists alleged by People Magazine to have been willing to promote the views of the CIA included Stewart Alsop who headed the international bureau of the New York Herald Tribune, Ben Bradlee, the foreign affairs correspondent for Newsweek, James Reston for the international section of the New York Times, Charles Douglas Jackson, the foreign photo-journalist for Time Magazine, and international correspondents such as Walter Pincus of the Washington Post, Charles Bartlett of the Chattanooga Times and William C. Baggs and Herb Gold of The Miami News. According to Nina Burleigh (A Very Private Woman), these journalists sometimes wrote articles that were commissioned by Frank Wisner. The CIA also provided them with classified information to help them with their work.
Congressional hearings in 1976 proved the CIA had been paying off editors and reporters in most mainstream media outlets.
After 1953, the network was overseen by Allen W. Dulles, director of the Central Intelligence Agency. By this time Operation Mockingbird had a major influence over 25 newspapers and wire agencies. The usual methodology was placing reports developed from intelligence provided by the CIA to witting or unwitting reporters. Bye Bye Blackbird" is a song published in 1926 by the American composer Ray Henderson and lyricist Mort Dixon. It is considered a popular standard and was first recorded by Sam Lanin's Dance Orchestra in March 1926,[1] followed by Nick Lucas andGene Austin the same year.
Song informationEdit
It was the #16 song of 1926 according to Pop Culture Madness.[2] In 1982, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) posthumously awarded John Coltrane aGrammy Award of "Best Jazz Solo Performance" for the work on his album Bye Bye Blackbird.[3] Recordings of the song often include only the chorus; the verses are far less known.[4]
The song was also copied by Charlie and His Orchestra, German Karl Schwedler, of The Templin Band during World War II as part ofJoseph Goebbels' propaganda campaign. But the lyrics were changed to reflect the German political rhetoric of the time and intended to demoralize the Allied forces. The tune(s) were sung in English and aimed at United States and British troops, as well as British citizens. It was not permitted in Nazi Germany to play the song and melody because the Nazi leadership forbade "degenerate" styles of music such as jazz.[citation needed]
Segregationists opposed to the American Civil Rights Movement, notably at the Selma to Montgomery marches, played the song over loudspeakers as a taunt.[5]
Two former Beatles have each recorded the song: Ringo Starr for his 1970 albumSentimental Journey, and Paul McCartney for his 2012 album Kisses on the Bottom. Both men have commented that the song was one of many "standards" that they grew up singing with their families.[6][7]
It is used in the musicals Liza with a Z andFosse.
Meaning of the lyricsEdit
There is much speculation about the meaning of the song.[8] At least two commentators (using the same source) attribute the song to a prostitute's leaving the business and going home to her mother.[9][10] As such, it is the opposite of "House of the Rising Sun," where the prostitute returns to the business.[11] The reason for the song's apparent ambiguity is that the opening verse and the verses about the bluebird are rarely sung.

The Internet of Things (IoT) encompasses a wide range of end products. Almost any embedded system can be turned into an IoT device by simply adding a wired or wireless Internet connection. Today, many IoT products use standard embedded processors or microcontrollers (MCUs). Although some IoT devices cost more than $100 today, most devices will require lower prices to enable the expected growth. To minimize cost, the processor and wireless chips will often come from the same supplier or will be integrated onto the same chip.
The combination of processor and radio technology challenges embedded hardware designers who have generally worked with either one or the other. Designing a successful IoT device requires a solid understanding of these technologies as well as system-level issues such as security and low-power design. Picking the right set of features in markets that are quickly evolving presents another set of challenges.
To be better prepared for IoT system design and the changes in this new market, attendees joined us on June 11 when we hosted the Linley IoT Conference at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Santa Clara. This one-day, single-track conference focused on hardware design for client devices on the Internet of Things, such as smart meters, smart parking, smart farms, smart appliances, connected vehicles, smart lighting, and home security. "I Can't Stop Loving You" is a popular song written and composed by country singer, songwriter and musician Don Gibson, who first recorded it on December 30, 1957, for RCA Victor Records. It was released in 1958 as the B-side of "Oh, Lonesome Me", becoming a double-sided country hit single.
The song was covered by Ray Charles in 1962, featured on Charles' Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music, and released as a single. Charles' version reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1962, for five weeks. This version went to number one on the U.S. R&B; and Adult Contemporary charts. Billboard ranked it as the No. 2 song for 1962. Charles reached No. 1 in the UK Singles Chart in July 1962, staying for two weeks.
The Ray Charles version is noted for his saying the words before the last five lines of the song on the final chorus: "Sing the Song, Children". It was ranked No. 164 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and #49 on CMT's 100 Greatest

A web search engine is a software system that is designed to search for information on the World Wide Web. The search results are generally presented in a line of results often referred to as search engine results pages (SERPs). The information may be a mix of web pages, images, and other types of files. Some search engines also mine data available in databases or open directories. Unlike web directories, which are maintained only by human editors, search engines also maintain real-time information by running an algorithm on a web crawler.
History
Internet search engines themselves predate the debut of the Web in December 1990. The Whois user search dates back to 1982 and the Knowbot Information Service multi-network user search was first implemented in 1989. The first well documented search engine that searched content files, namely FTP files was Archie, which debuted on 10 September 1990.
Prior to September 1993 the World Wide Web was entirely indexed by hand. There was a list of webservers edited by Tim Berners-Lee and hosted on the CERN webserver. One historical snapshot of the list in 1992 remains, but as more and more web servers went online the central list could no longer keep up. On the NCSA site, new servers were announced under the title "What's New!"

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine's unpaid results—often referred to as "natural," "organic," or "earned" results. In general, the earlier (or higher ranked on the search results page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine's users. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search, academic search, news search and industry-specific vertical search engines.
As an Internet marketing strategy, SEO considers how search engines work, what people search for, the actual search terms or keywords typed into search engines and which search engines are preferred by their targeted audience. Optimizing a website may involve editing its content, HTML and associated coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines. Today, many IoT products use standard embedded processors or microcontrollers (MCUs). Although some IoT devices cost more than $100 today, most devices will require lower prices to enable the expected growth. To minimize cost, the processor and wireless chips will often come from the same supplier or will be integrated onto the same chip. The combination of processor and radio technology challenges embedded hardware designers who have generally worked with either one or the other. Designing a successful IoT device requires a solid understanding of these technologies as well as system-level issues such as security and low-power design. Picking the right set of features in markets that are quickly evolving presents another set of challenges. To be better prepared for IoT system design and the changes in this new market, attendees joined us on June 11 when we hosted the Linley IoT Conference at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Santa Clara. In 1951, Allen W. Dulles persuaded Cord Meyer to join the CIA. However, there is evidence that he was recruited several years earlier and had been spying on the liberal internationalist organizations he had been a member of in the late 1940s. Congressional hearings in 1976 proved the CIA had been paying off editors and reporters in most mainstream media outlets.

But the lyrics were changed to reflect the German political rhetoric of the time and intended to demoralize the Allied forces. The tune(s) were sung in English and aimed at United States and British troops, as well as British citizens. It was not permitted in Nazi Germany to play the song and melody because the Nazi leadership forbade "degenerate" styles of music such as jazz.[citation needed]
Segregationists opposed to the American Civil Rights Movement, notably at the Selma to Montgomery marches, played the song over loudspeakers as a taunt.[5]
Two former Beatles have each recorded the song: Ringo Starr for his 1970 albumSentimental Journey, and Paul McCartney for his 2012 album Kisses on the Bottom. Both men have commented that the song was one of many "standards" that they grew up singing with their families.[6][7]

The Internet of Things (IoT) encompasses a wide range of end products. Almost any embedded system can be turned into an IoT device by simply adding a wired or wireless Internet connection. Today, many IoT products use standard embedded processors or microcontrollers (MCUs). Although some IoT devices cost more than $100 today, most devices will require lower prices to enable the expected growth. To minimize cost, the processor and wireless chips will often come from the same supplier or will be integrated onto the same chip.
The combination of processor and radio technology challenges embedded hardware designers who have generally worked with either one or the other. Designing a successful IoT device requires a solid understanding of these technologies as well as system-level issues such as security and low-power design. Picking the right set of features in markets that are quickly evolving presents another set of challenges.
To be better prepared for IoT system design and the changes in this new market, attendees joined us on June 11 when we hosted the Linley IoT Conference at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Santa Clara. This one-day, single-track conference focused on hardware design for client devices on the Internet of Things, such as smart meters, smart parking, smart farms, smart appliances, connected vehicles, smart lighting, and home security. To provide context for later presentations, the conference opened with an overview and forecast of the IoT market from The Linley Group.
Attendees also had the opportunity to meet with industry leaders, The Linley Group analysts, networked with their peers, attended an evening reception with sponsor exhibits and demos, and more.
