The Old House is the house of Hristić family which is located at Nikole Pašića 49, Tijabara, Pirot, built in 1848. and in 1953. it was protected by the state of Serbia, and in 1979 it becomes the monument of culture of exceptional Importance of Serbia. After that Old house became a museum. It represents the best preserved monument of traditional architecture from the mid-19th century in Pirot. It belonged to a respectable trader Hrista Jovanović.
According to tradition, construction time lasted two years and the house was completed in 5. April 1848. This is confirmed with a text engraved on the floor of the house. For building the house, Mali Rista as he was called, needed a permission from the Turkish authorities, because he was going to build a big house with floors. Thus, on the outskirts of Pirot, was built one of the most luxurious houses that was not Turkish but Christian, at that time. Unfortunately, there is no information anywhere about the craftsmen who built it. And to this day it remains an enigma, who came up with the idea to build such a house - whether the Mali Rista who traveling the Ottoman Empire for its trading operations or extraordinary craftsmen who built into her blend of fantasy and architectural experience.
In this house lived Hrista Jovanović with his family, and later his successors, whose last name was Jovanović, overturned in Hristic. After World War II, the house changed its purpose because the Municipality of Pirot awarded the newly created National Museum in Pirot.

This Old House is produced by This Old House Ventures, Inc. with WGBH Boston as the PBS distributing station. Warner Bros. Domestic Television distributes the series to commercial television stations in syndication. Time Inc. launched This Old House magazine in 1995, focusing on home how-to, know-how and inspiration. In 2001, Time Inc. acquired the television assets from WGBH Boston and formed This Old House Ventures, Inc.
This Old House and its sister series Ask This Old House are often broadcast together as The This Old House Hour (originally known as The New This Old House Hour). Both shows are owned by This Old House Ventures, Inc. (a subsidiary of Time, Inc.) and are underwritten by GMC and The Home Depot. Weyerhauser lumber distributor, a previous underwriter, by 1989 had donated more than $1,000,000 a year to the show. This Old House is also underwritten by State Farm Insurance and Lumber Liquidators, Inc. Other underwriters throughout the show's tenure included Parks Corporation, Glidden paints, Montgomery Ward, Ace Hardware, Kohler plumbing, Schlage locks, Century 21 Real Estate, Toro lawnmowers/snowblowers, ERA Real Estate, Angie's List, and Mitsubishi Electrics. Two of the original underwriters were Weyerhauser and Owens-Corning.
A house is a building that functions as a home, ranging from simple dwellings such as rudimentary huts of nomadic tribes and the improvised shacks in shantytowns to complex, fixed structures of wood, brick, marble or other materials containing plumbing, ventilation and electrical systems. Most conventional modern houses in Western cultures will contain a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen or cooking area, and a living room. In traditional agriculture-oriented societies, domestic animals such as chickens or larger livestock (like cattle) may share part of the house with humans. The social unit that lives in a house is known as a household. Most commonly, a household is a family unit of some kind, although households may also be other social groups or individuals. The design and structure of the house is also subject to change as a consequence of globalization, urbanization and other social, economic, demographic, and technological reasons. Various other cultural factors also influence the building style and patterns of domestic space.
Mystery meat navigation (also known as MMN) is a disparaging term coined in 1998 by Vincent Flanders, author and designer of the website Web Pages That Suck, to describe a web page where the destination of the link is not visible until the user points their cursor at it. Such interfaces lack a user-centered design, emphasizing aesthetic appearance, white space, and the concealment of relevant information over basic practicality and functionality.
The epithet "mystery meat" refers to the meat products often served in American public school cafeterias whose forms have been so thoroughly reprocessed that their exact types can no longer be identified by their appearances: like them, the methods of MMN are clear to the producer but baffling to the consumer.
Flanders originally and temporarily described the phenomenon as Saturnic navigation in reference to the Saturn Corporation, whose company website epitomized this phenomenon. Flanders writes, "The typical form of MMN is represented by menus composed of unrevealing icons that are replaced with explicative text only when the mouse cursor hovers over them".

For example: Richard interrupts Kevin with his water-heater-turned-robot. Tom does his best impression of a flying superhero. Roger puts bull’s-eyes over his own eyes. Kevin tees off in the shop, and everyone scatters from the ricocheting golf ball. Richard produces electricity with a pedal-powered bicycle generator. Roger and Richard pull in a broadcast of Kevin using a TV aerial. Roger does an impersonation of Kevin introducing the show. Kevin clones himself as a cardboard cutout. And the popular What Is It? segments can quickly turn to c...

Three months after arriving in Damascus, I am still here. It has been a wonderful experience to meet so many inspiring people and help setting up a new NGO: Bidna Capoeira. However my time has also starkly highlighted the difference between expectations I set when I set out and the reality of my adventure. In staying here for such an extended period I have let down some of my supporters principally the kids Prospect House, to whom I'd portrayed a different vision of my trip. The reality is that this is my adventure first and a fundraising event second. I want to make that clear, if before I was misleading. I will still raise funds and visit orphanages just in a timescale that accommodates my ability to wander off that cause alone; as has been the case here in Damascus. This video is an ...

modernizing old house
George Clarke's old house new home s01e01
Midnight, that old clock keeps ticking,
The kids are all asleep and I'm walking the floor.
Darlin' I can see that you're dreaming,
And I don't wanna wake you up
When I close the door.
This old house of ours is built on dreams
And a businessman don't know what that means.
There's a garden outside she works in every day
And tomorrow morning a man from the bank's
Gonna come and take it all away.
Lately, I've been thinking 'bout daddy,
And how he always made things work, when the chips were down,
And I know I've got something inside me
There's always a light there to guide me
To what can't be found.
This old house of ours is built on dreams
And a businessman don't know what that means.
There's a swing outside the kids play on every day
And tomorrow morning a man from the bank's
Gonna come and take it all away.
Take it all away, take it all away, take it all away.
Take it all away, take it all away, take it all away.
Remember how we first came here together?
Standing on an empty lot, holding hands.
Later, we came back in the moonlight
And made love right where the kitchen is,
Then we made our plans.
This old house of ours is built on dreams
And a businessman don't know what that means.
There's a garden outside she works in every day
And tomorrow morning a man from the bank's
Gonna come and take it all away.
Take it all away, take it all away, take it all away.
