Bill Westenhofer is a visual effects supervisor for Rhythm and Hues Studios, for which he has worked since 1994. Life of Pi is a Canadian fantasy adventure novel by Yann Martel published in 2001. The protagonist, Piscine Molitor "Pi" Patel, an Indian boy from Pondicherry, explores issues of spirituality and practicality from an early age. He survives 227 days after a shipwreck while stranded on a lifeboat in the Pacific Ocean with a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker.
The novel, which has sold more than ten million copies worldwide, was rejected by at least five London publishing houses before being accepted by Knopf Canada, which published it in September 2001. The UK edition won the Man Booker Prize for Fiction the following year. It was also chosen for CBC Radio's Canada Reads 2003, where it was championed by author Nancy Lee. The French translation, L'Histoire de Pi, was chosen in the French CBC version of the contest Le combat des livres, where it was championed by Louise Forestier. The novel won the 2003 Boeke Prize, a South African novel award. In 2004, it won the Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature in Best Adult Fiction for years 2001–2003. In 2012 it was adapted into a theatrical feature film directed by Ang Lee with a screenplay by David Magee.
In filmmaking, visual effects (abbreviated VFX) are the processes by which imagery is created and/or manipulated outside the context of a live action shot. Visual effects involve the integration of live-action footage and generated imagery to create environments which look realistic, but would be dangerous, expensive, impractical, or simply impossible to capture on film. Visual effects using computer generated imagery have recently become accessible to the independent filmmaker with the introduction of affordable and easy-to-use animation and compositing software.
Visual effects are often integral to a movie's story and appeal. Although most visual effects work is completed during post-production, it usually must be carefully planned and choreographed in pre-production and production. Visual effects primarily executed in Post-Production with the use of multiple tools and technologies such as graphic design, modeling, animation and similar software, while special effects such as explosions and car chases are made on set. A visual effects supervisor is usually involved with the production from an early stage to work closely with production and the film's director design, guide and lead the teams required to achieve the desired effects.

I don't own any of this, it is simply for entertainment purposes and I will not attempt to monetize this video. In short, this was uploaded to show a friend of mine. If this causes any form of displeasure to the very talented Bill Westenhofer or any related party. I will take this down immediately.
http://www.popcporntaxi.com.au You're well aware of the hoo-ha that blew up at the Oscars when the Oscar-winning team from Rhythym and Hues for 'Life of Pi' was played off the stage by the theme from Jaws just as Bill Westenhofer was highlighting the plight of an industry that sees a Visual Effects Company win the Oscar and go bankrupt in almost the same breath. When director Ang Lee talked about VFX being too expensive, more fuel to the flame was added. But what's going on? What's it all about? The man to talk to is the man himself, Bill Westenhofer. We asked him about that, and about Life of Pi, and VFX in general - as he's working on Duncan Jones' upcoming 'World of Warcraft' movie.

Glenn Campbell's Presentation "The Five primary jobs of a VFX artist, and how to get one" at UAT's Fall 2011 Tech Forum. Glenn Campbell is the Visual Effects Supervisor for AREA 51. Bio: Glenn started his effects career by nearly blowing his face off with homemade fireworks at age 15 and has never looked back. Much of his misspent youth was dedicated to building models and blowing them up in front of a super 8 camera. In 1978 he managed to somehow enter the Cameraman Training Program - Effects Branch, which placed him as a trainee on such productions as The Wiz, Superman, Buck Rogers, Battlestar Galactica, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Star Trek: The Motion Picture. After graduating, he continued on the Star Trek feature and subsequently fell in with a bad crowd, working on film...

If what I say I this video offends you..good, it means you care enough to have an opinion. I've always endevoured to tell the truth in my videos even when unpalatable, this may well be one of those times. However I felt this needs saying. I've been banging on about this subject for 5 or 6 years so as such I think its safe to say I am allowed an opinion. My opinion may well differ from yours, some of you may even find my stance offensive. All I ask is you research EXACTLY what it is you are supporting. Things are not always what they seem and often some rather 'interesting' things are often said and not touched upon by people with their own adgendas on this. This is a WORLD WIDE industry not just and L.A one. You cannot put the genie back in the bottle. I've worked in this industr...
