Tokugawa Ieyasu (徳川 家康, January 31, 1543 – June 1, 1616) was the founder and first shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate of Japan, which virtually ruled Japan from the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600 until the Meiji Restoration in 1868. Ieyasu seized power in 1600, received appointment as shogun in 1603, abdicated from office in 1605, but remained in power until his death in 1616. His given name is sometimes spelled Iyeyasu, according to the historical pronunciation of he. Ieyasu was posthumously enshrined at Nikkō Tōshō-gū with the name Tōshō Daigongen (東照大権現).
Tokugawa Ieyasu was born in Okazaki Castle in Mikawa on the 26th day of the twelfth month of the eleventh year of Tenbun, according to the Japanese calendar. Originally named Matsudaira Takechiyo (松平 竹千代), he was the son of Matsudaira Hirotada (松平 広忠), the daimyo of Mikawa of the Matsudaira clan, and Odai-no-kata (於大の方, Lady Odai), the daughter of a neighbouring samurai lord, Mizuno Tadamasa (水野 忠政). His mother and father were step-siblings. They were just 17 and 15 years old, respectively, when Ieyasu was born. Two years later, Odai-no-kata was sent back to her family and the couple never lived together again. As both husband and wife remarried and both went on to have further children, Ieyasu in the end had 11 half-brothers and sisters.
Sengoku Basara (戦国BASARA) is a series of video games developed and published by Capcom, and a bigger media franchise based on it, including three anime series and an animated film. Its story is very loosely based on real events of the titular Sengoku era in the history of feudal Japan.
The original game in the series, released in 2005 only for the PS2 as a "crowd-fighting" action game in the vein of Koei's similarly themed Samurai Warriors series. Devil Kings, an English-language version of the game featured an altered gameplay and a completely different, supposedly more western audience-oriented fantasy story with original characters, which was however never used again due to the mostly negative response the localization received from critics as well as consumers.
The 2004 sequel, also for the PS2. The game was also ported to the Wii.
A 2D fighting game by Arc System Works, creators of the Guilty Gear series, made in 2008 for the arcades and ported for the PS2 later the same year.

Genres: Action, Adventure, Fantasy,This is the second episodes of an excellent three-part series on the Tokugawa period--from the late 16th century through the mid-19th century. While part one focused on the steps leading to the Tokugawa shogunate, part two is about the day to day life in the newly established regime. Most of this episode during the same time period as the TV mini-series "Shogun". Topics covered were the reigns of Ieyasu, the growing influence of the English, court intrigues, Iemitsu and his drive to eliminate foreigners and foreign religions in Japan, the peasant revolt and the odd treatment of women along the road from Tokyo to Kyoto. While this portion isn't quite as interesting as part one, it is quite enjoyable and chock full of history. And, like the other episodes, is narrated by Richard Chamberlain...

In the 17th century Japan is divided between two forces. The eastern army lead by the Warlord Tokugawa Ieyasu and the western army which fights for Toyotomi's clan. Despite wining a recent battle, things look grim for the eastern army. Toyotomi's army has a supply of modern firearms, a weapon which might turn the tides of war. Tokugawa Ieyasu send his trusted samurai Mayeda and his son Yourimune to Spain. There they are to purchase 5000 muskets. But it's a dangerous journey and there are many who plot against them. And when they finally arrive in Spain, nothing goes the way they expected.
I stand unarmed to offer a challenge! So that we, from here forth, may never again fight our brothers! Blue path starts at 13:33. Green path starts at 16:04. Purple path starts at 18:05. Yeah, they got really lazy for Ieyasu's Green and Purple paths. They took cutscenes of other characters, stuffed them in when they had almost nothing to do with him, and repeated the ending cutscene twice. That Tsuruhime cutscene especially looks out of place, but it's a unique intro and in his path, so had to include it I suppose. Ieyasu is voiced by Liam O'Brien.
In the early 16th century, Japan is a warlike society ruled by samurai and their daimyo warlords. When Portuguese merchants arrive in 1543, they are the first Europeans to set foot in Japan. Missionaries quickly set out to convert the nation to Christianity. In the same year, a samurai boy named Tokugawa Ieyasu is born to a low ranking daimyo family. To prove his family's loyalty to their ruling warlord, Ieyasu is given as a hostage where he remains for most of his childhood. When he is finally freed, he reclaims his family's domain and allies himself with the most powerful rulers in Japan: Oda Nobunaga, and his successor, Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Hideyoshi awards him a small fishing village named Edo, later to be known as Tokyo, and provides him with a vast area to rule. But Hideyoshi and Ieya...

Good morning, your honor
May I approach the bench?
I don't give a damn what anyone thinks
I stay up all night and I smoke and I drink
I'm a wanted man and I'm blowin' town
Don't waste your time tryin' to hunt me down
The cops are sayin' I belong behind bars
And I'm guilty, I'm guilty as charged
I ain't never lost a fight in my life
I'll send you home crying to your fat and ugly wife
If you don't believe me when I tell you this
Well, let me introduce you to my rock hard fist
If you're accusing me of living too hard
Well I'm guilty, I'm guilty as charged
I ain't asking God to forgive my sins
Take a good look and you'll know where I've been
I'm dancing with the devil every night and everyday
People pay attention to the things that I say
I don't need anybody's help to rise above it
If you don't like the way I'm livin' buddy, why don't you shove it?
When you feel the ground shaking underneath your feet
Oh, that's yours truly walkin' down the street
Come a little closer, girl, I'll show you my scars
And I'm guilty, I'm guilty as charged
If you're saying my love is too large
Then I'm guilty, I'm guilty as charged
Oh, I'm guilty, I'm guilty as charged
