Tokyo (東京, Tōkyō, "Eastern Capital") (Japanese: [toːkjoː], English /ˈtoʊki.oʊ/), officially Tokyo Metropolis (東京都, Tōkyō-to), is one of the 47 prefectures of Japan, and is both the capital and largest city of Japan. Television is one of the major mass media of the United States. As of 2011, household ownership of television sets in the country is 96.7%, and the majority of households have more than one set, with approximately 114,200,000 American households owning at least one television set as of August 2013. The peak ownership percentage of households with at least one television set occurred during the 1996–97 season, with 98.4% ownership.
As a whole, the television networks that broadcast in the United States are the largest and most distributed in the world, and programs produced specifically for U.S.-based networks are the most widely syndicated internationally. Due to a recent surge in the number and popularity of critically acclaimed television series during the 2000s and the 2010s to date, many critics have said that American television is currently undergoing a modern golden age.
Television channels and networks
In the United States, television is available via broadcast (also known as "over-the-air") – the earliest method of receiving television programming, which merely requires an antenna and an equipped internal or external tuner capable of picking up channels that transmit on the two principal broadcast bands, very high frequency (VHF) and ultra high frequency (UHF), in order to receive the signal – and four conventional types of multichannel subscription television: cable, unencrypted satellite ("free-to-air"), direct-broadcast satellite television and IPTV (internet protocol television). There are also competing video services on the World Wide Web, which have become an increasingly popular mode of television viewing since the late 2000s, particularly with younger audiences as an alternative or a supplement to the aforementioned traditional forms of viewing television content.

Tokyo Jungle
Tokyo Jungle (トーキョー ジャングル) is a survival action game developed by Crispy's and published by Sony Computer Entertainment exclusively for the PlayStation 3. The game takes place in a deserted, futuristic Tokyo, in which the city has transformed into a vicious wildlife wasteland.Tokyo Jungle was released in Japan on June 7, 2012, available on both disc and downloadable versions. During an interview with Joystiq at the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo, Sony's Scott Rohde confirmed the international release of the game, which became available for download only via PSN in North America and Europe on September 25 and September 26, 2012, respectively. It was included on the "Best of PlayStation Network Vol. 1" compilation disc, released June 18, 2013.
Gameplay
Tokyo Jungle has two modes: Story and Survival.
In Story mode, the player plays through missions centered around various animals. Eventually, the player will discover the truth behind humankind's disappearance.Pomeranian dogs are key characters in the story, as well as a Sika deer, beagle, Tosa Inu, spotted hyena, lions, and a pair of robotic dogs similar to AIBO.

With athletes and viewers exhausted, the closing ceremony for Rio2016 was passing off as expected...
Until Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe popped out of a giant green pipe dressed up as video game character Super Mario, one of Japan's best-known exports.
It was then the world got a clue that, for Tokyo2020, the next Olympic hosts would take full and shameless advantage of Japan's pop culture icons.
Abe making pipe-dream a reality
The Tokyo2020 video beamed to audiences in Rio showed Mario running excitedly around Tokyo then jumping into his famous green pipe.
Cue the slow rise of the green pipe in Rio with a hunched Mario-like figure perched on top.
Japan's Prime Minister, not famous for his extrovert displays and pop culture references, emerges dressed as Super Mario and doffs his hat to enthusiastic crowds, then setting social media alight.
Some were quick to point out that Mr Abe was clearly the star of the show, overshadowing Tokyo's newly-elected mayor, Yuriko Koike, who was in attendance waving the Olympic flag and dressed in a kimono.
The parade ended with Mr Abe holding aloft a now glowing red ball, Japan's rising sun.
Super Mario for the uninitiated
Super Mario is a fictional character in the hugely popular Mario video game franchise created by Nintendo. A stout Italian plumber famous for his red cap and blue overalls, he has appeared in scores of video games, becoming the world's biggest selling video game franchise of all time.
And what else can we look forward to in Tokyo?
Mario was not the only pop culture icon in attendance. Doraemon, the animation character with a famous magic pocket from which he can pull out gadgets from the future, also featured in a preview video, along with the mouth-less cat, Hello Kitty.
Some requests for Tokyo from social media
1. Please can Studio Ghibli help direct the opening ceremony? There were calls for Japan's most famous film studio, Studio Ghibli, known for its fantastical tales and extraordinary animation to have a role in the opening ceremony.
2. Can Pokemon Go become a sport in 2020? There were no Pokemon characters in the ceremony - about the only place they haven't appeared in the past few weeks - but that did not stop people from suggesting it could become a sport in four years time.

With athletes and viewers exhausted, the closing ceremony for Rio2016 was passing off as expected...
Until Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe popped out of a giant green pipe dressed up as video game character Super Mario, one of Japan's best-known exports.
It was then the world got a clue that, for Tokyo2020, the next Olympic hosts would take full and shameless advantage of Japan's pop culture icons.
Abe making pipe-dream a reality
The Tokyo2020 video beamed to audiences in Rio showed Mario running excitedly around Tokyo then jumping into his famous green pipe.
Cue the slow rise of the green pipe in Rio with a hunched Mario-like figure perched on top.
Japan's Prime Minister, not famous for his extrovert displays and pop culture references, emerges dressed as Super Mario and doffs his hat to enthusiastic crowds, then setting social media alight.
Some were quick to point out that Mr Abe was clearly the star of the show, overshadowing Tokyo's newly-elected mayor, Yuriko Koike, who was in attendance waving the Olympic flag and dressed in a kimono.
The parade ended with Mr Abe holding aloft a now glowing red ball, Japan's rising sun.
Super Mario for the uninitiated
Super Mario is a fictional character in the hugely popular Mario video game franchise created by Nintendo. A stout Italian plumber famous for his red cap and blue overalls, he has appeared in scores of video games, becoming the world's biggest selling video game franchise of all time.
And what else can we look forward to in Tokyo?
Mario was not the only pop culture icon in attendance. Doraemon, the animation character with a famous magic pocket from which he can pull out gadgets from the future, also featured in a preview video, along with the mouth-less cat, Hello Kitty.
Some requests for Tokyo from social media
1. Please can Studio Ghibli help direct the opening ceremony? There were calls for Japan's most famous film studio, Studio Ghibli, known for its fantastical tales and extraordinary animation to have a role in the opening ceremony.
2. Can Pokemon Go become a sport in 2020? There were no Pokemon characters in the ceremony - about the only place they haven't appeared in the past few weeks - but that did not stop people from suggesting it could become a sport in four years time.
