KEEPINGITPEEL 7: ORBITAL
And so to the last posting for this week of Keepingitpeel. Although Orbital were long term fans of Peel, from their roots in punk, I’ve not gone for a track from one of Orbital’s three Peel sessions but instead a live track recorded at the Maida Vale studio in the great man’s presence.
Orbital’s last gig before their 2004 split was at the Maida Vale studios in London. This was an invite only gig for 40+ people although quite a few managed to blag their way in. The gig was broadcast on Radio One as part of the John Peel Wednesday night show.
Set List – Remind, The Girl With The Sun In Her Head, Belfast, You Lot, The Box, Satan, Halcyon (Belinda Carlisle/Bon Jovi/The Darkness), One Perfect Sunrise, Impact, Dr Who and Chime.
After the radio broadcast finished, Orbital came back for an encore. The last live track played was an encore version of Remind, and it’s that I’ve got for you.
