Former Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch head of fixed income Neale Muston has sold his Chowder Bay home in Sydney's lower north shore for $14.5 million.

A Chinese-origin buyer with residency snapped up the home.

This is the second time the architecturally designed property with panoramic water views at 17 Morella Road, Mosman has been put up for sale this year.

The four-bedroom home has an equal number of bathrooms. It features minimalistic styling in copper, concrete and timber.

McGrath's Michael Coombs and John Melville started a sales campaign for the home in September with a price guide of $14.5 million to $15.5 million. The sale makes it the most expensive home sold in the Chowder Bay area.

Racing enthusiast Mr Muston bought the property for $6.15 million in 2008.

Now a director of Excalibur Trading, a private capital fund specialising in the global futures markets, credit products and private equity opportunities in China, Mr Muston races cars and is an aerobatics pilot flying out of Sydney's Red Baron club.
