The little Senegalese village of Dindefélo has taken its fate in its own hands by creating a nature reserve to protect the chimpanzee population living in the surrounding forest. They hope it's not too late to save the apes.

Paul Talliard's "Hands of Honour" teaches unemployed men carpentry skills, which they use to renovate derelict buildings and upcycle obsolete stock or trash from nearby companies into furniture. It's a win-win for the men, and for the environment.

In Kinshasa, more than 25,000 children live on the streets. Many build their own communities, led by those who have grown up there. They provide guidance for the young, many of them end up on the street after having been accused of witchcraft.

After decades working as a newspaper cartoonist in his native Ivory Coast, Lassane Zohore has started a new project. He's using his talent to adapt African legends into animated films for children. 

Dance school in the sands of Senegal

The senegalese dance school ‘Ecole des Sables’ is rather unusual. It teaches its students the art of dancing in the sands. It was founded in 1998 by Germaine Acogny, the grand old dame of African dance and attracts people from all over Africa.
