S IS FOR SACRED SPIRIT

In the ambient boom of the early 1990s, it seemed as though everyone had a go. Sacred Spirit was an attempt to meld traditional Native American songs to modern beats. Not wholly successfully in my view.

Three who had a go were housers The Grid, techno’s C J Bolland and trip hop merchant Howie B. ‘Yeha-Noha’ a Traditional Native American song means Wishes of Happiness and Prosperity, based on a chant of the Native Americans. From 1993 and 1995:

Sacred Spirit – Winter Ceremony (CJ Bolland’s Freestyle Sabotage)

Sacred Spirit – Yeha-Noha (Totem Grid Mix)

Sacred Spirit – Winter Spirit (Howie B’s Left Foot Mix)
