Adamski neo-waltz

Yeah you read that right. Adamski, hero of the rave revolution (first class) is conspiring with the bourgeois counter-revolutionaries to bring back the running dogs of the waltz regime. Former comrade Adamski is collaborating with imperialist lackeys David McAlmont and Viktoria Modesta. Listen with shame to the Mixtape No.1. This sees waltz through the prisms of the punk and dance wars. Oddly compelling.

Blurb: Adamski, best known for his international No.1 smash ‘Killer’ featuring Seal, is now launching his innovative new electronic music project – Neo-Waltz. Neo-Waltz is Adamski’s 21st century update of the style of music known as the waltz. Originally thought of as an indecent dance in 18th century England, Waltzing originally became popular in Vienna in the 1780s and quickly spread throughout Europe as the most popular form of dance.  Waltzing is a twirling dance in ¾ time performed in close proximity by couples. Bored of seeing clubbers dancing alone all these years, Adamski has put a modern twist on the dance in a bid to get people dancing together. “The waltz was not initially a formal dance with strict ballroom steps It usually involved grabbing the nearest desirable human being and whisking them around with reckless abandon. It was much later that it became stuffy, institutionalized and commodified — as is often the way with sub-cultural innovations…I realized just how sexy and groovy the waltz rhythm can be after hearing its influence in the folk music of Venezuela, which is a country I visit a lot, while Googling its origins, I became fascinated and inspired by the whole history of the waltz and its social and cultural significance.” Now Adamski is bringing his Neo-Waltz concept to the East London venue that witnessed several riotous performances by his electro-punk band Diskord Datkord in the late 80s – before he went solo for ‘the acid house revolution will be joined by the ever-glamorous singer/model Viktoria Modesta, who recently starred in the Paralympics closing ceremony playing the Ice Queen in an amazing costume, and David McAlmont, the soul singer best known for his big hit ‘Yes’ in tandem with Bernard Butler, former guitarist with Suede. This new concept is definitely not to be missed! Working in the ¾ time signature has re-energised Adamski. He’s been recruiting a variety of different collaborators to his neo-waltz album project, including Rebel MC, Adrian Sherwood from On-U Sound, a new young rapper called Mickey Lightfoot, and drummers Rat Scabies from The Damned and Budgie from Siouxsie & The Banshees. Adamski has just signed to legendary indie label Wall Of Sound.
