RECOVERED: 2:54 – Killer
After a classic remix this afternoon, here’s a cover version by 2:54 of the 1990 Adamski/Seal track Killer.
2:54 are two sisters, originally from Ireland, but growing up in Bristol. The cover is a rather serious-faced moody, broody rock version. The lyrics have a yearning but the music is rather too straight-laced. A tad INXS.
And here’s Adamski’s 21st Century Version, which also take a more electronic rock approach than is strictly seemly
Blurb: 2:54 -sisters Hannah and Colette Thurlow- have debuted a special cover version of Seal and Adamski’s Nineties classic, ‘Killer’. Currently main support to the XX on their European comeback tour, they just premiered the surprise track online, with Colette commenting, “There’s a nostalgia to ‘Killer’ that each member of the band identifies with. We grew up listening to Seal. ‘Kiss from a Rose’ and ‘Crazy’ are such big songs. We thought it would be interesting to re-work a pop song and put a 2:54 spin on it. The lyrics are really moving too; melancholic and tough. To me it feels like a song about hope and solidarity.”
’2:54′ the album is out now
