Country music is a genre of American popular music that originated in the Southern United States in the 1920s. It takes its roots from the southeastern genre of American folk music and Western music. Blues modes have been used extensively throughout its recorded history. Country music often consists of ballads and dance tunes with generally simple forms and harmonies accompanied by mostly string instruments such as banjos, electric and acoustic guitars, dobros and fiddles as well as harmonicas. The term country music gained popularity in the 1940s in preference to the earlier term hillbilly music; it came to encompass Western music, which evolved parallel to hillbilly music from similar roots, in the mid-20th century. The term country music is used today to describe many styles and subgenres. The origins of country music are the folk music of mostly white, working-class Americans, who blended popular songs, Irish and Celtic fiddle tunes, traditional ballads, and cowboy songs, and various musical traditions from European immigrant communities. In 2009 country music was the most listened to rush hour radio genre during the evening commute, and second most popular in the morning commute in the United States.
The Country Music Marathon is located in Nashville, TN. The route begins on Broadway and continues along many of Nashville's sights including Music Row, Bicentennial Mall Belmont University, the State Capitol Building, the Cumberland River, Shelby Park, Shelby Bottoms Greenway, and ends outside LP Field, home of the Tennessee Titans. Many bands and high school cheerleaders entertain runners and walkers and friends, families, and neighbors join in cheering everyone on. The marathon is followed by an evening concert which has previously featured Sara Evans, Phil Vassar, Jo Dee Messina, Brad Paisley, and Lee Roy Parnell among others.
The marathon was first held in April, 2000 when 3,230 men 2,589 women completed the event. As popularity for the event grew, a half-marathon was added in 2002. This was soon followed by the addition of a kids marathon. A 5k has been added to the race options as well as wheelchair versions of Marathon, Half-marathon and 5k races. The number of participants in the 2008 event exceeded 30,000 total entrants.
Jude, also known as Judas Thaddaeus, was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. He is generally identified with Thaddeus, and is also variously called Jude of James, Jude Thaddaeus, Judas Thaddaeus or Lebbaeus. He is sometimes identified with Jude, the brother of Jesus, but is clearly distinguished from Judas Iscariot, the apostle who betrayed Jesus prior to his crucifixion. Judas Thaddeaus became known as Jude after early translators of the New Testament from Greek into English sought to distinguish him from Judas Iscariot and subsequently abbreviated his forename. Most versions of the New Testament in languages other than English and French refer to Judas and Jude by the same name.
The Armenian Apostolic Church honors Thaddeus along with Saint Bartholomew as its patron saints. In the Roman Catholic Church, he is the patron saint of desperate cases and lost causes.
Saint Jude's attribute is a club. He is also often shown in icons with a flame around his head. This represents his presence at Pentecost, when he received the Holy Spirit with the other apostles. Another common attribute is Jude holding an image of Jesus Christ, in the Image of Edessa. In some instances, he may be shown with a scroll or a book (the Epistle of Jude) or holding a carpenter's rule.
Music is an art form and cultural activity whose medium is sound and silence. The common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness), and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture (which are sometimes termed the "color" of a musical sound). Different styles or types of music may emphasize, de-emphasize or omit some of these elements. Music is performed with a vast range of instruments and with vocal techniques ranging from singing to rapping, and there are solely instrumental pieces, solely vocal pieces and pieces that combine singing and instruments. The word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike; "art of the Muses"). In its most general form, the activities describing music as an art form include the production of works of music (songs, tunes, symphonies, and so on), the criticism of music, the study of the history of music, and the aesthetic examination of music. Ancient Greek and Indian philosophers defined music as tones ordered horizontally as melodies and vertically as harmonies. Common sayings such as "the harmony of the spheres" and "it is music to my ears" point to the notion that music is often ordered and pleasant to listen to. However, 20th-century composer John Cage thought that any sound can be music, saying, for example, "There is no noise, only sound."
A half marathon is a road running event of 21.0975 kilometres (13.1094 mi). It is half the distance of a marathon and usually run on roads. Participation in half marathons has grown steadily. One of the main reasons for this is that it is a challenging distance, but does not require the same level of training that a marathon does. In 2008, Running USA reported that the half marathon is the fastest growing type of race. A 2010 article by Universal Sports echoed the growing popularity of the distance. It is common for a half marathon event to be held concurrently with a marathon, using almost the same course with a late start, an early finish or shortcuts. The half marathon is also known as a 21K, 21.1K or 13.1 miles, although these values are rounded and not formally correct.
World records in the half marathon are ratified by the International Association of Athletics Federations, the international governing body for the sport of athletics.
The official IAAF world record for men is 58:23, set by Zersenay Tadese of Eritrea on March 21, 2010 at the Lisbon half marathon in Portugal, and for women is 1:05:09, set by Florence Kiplagat of Kenya on February 15, 2015, in Barcelona, Spain.
What does running with 45,000+ people with the Nashville community supporting you as you run? Well I caught it all with my GoPro while successfully finishing.
During the 2015 Country Music Marathon, we shot from Belmont Road as it crosses over the interstate. This is the video from that camera as runners approached Clifton Lane. This isa little over an hour of video, from approximately 7:20 to 9:00. If you crossed the bridge on Belmont during those times, you're probably somewhere in this video....but so are a lot of other people so it might take you some time to find yourself. :-) I didn't put any music to this video because, honestly, it was a long day and I was too tired to do it, so with that, I apologize. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the video and if you ran in the race, I hope you enjoyed the event! Copyright Nashville Web Video, Phil Mandley, LLC 2015 http://Nashville-Web-Video.com

More than 30,000 runners took the stage on Broadway for the St. Jude Country Music Marathon.. Amy Cotta says, "When the National Anthem goes off I usually cry my eyes out because I know the price that's paid for us to be racing." Amy Cotta is the founder of medalsofhonor.org. As a mother of a young marine, she started racing in combat boots to deal with separation anxiety and feel connected. The connection is now branching out to fallen soldiers families, giving race medals to them. Cotta says, " We actually our fallen a name and not just a number. It's a way for us to remember and give back and let the surviving families know they are not alone." Cotta isn't alone in racing for a good cause, this is Steve Blume's 8th race as a St. Jude hero. He and ab...

This is a live shot from Belmont and Battlefield Drive in Nashville. The runners will pass by here. The edited, HD version is here...https://youtu.be/qFVD6TqlJsc I wish the quality was a little bit better, but this is the recorded feed from the live stream. Usually the recorded feed is a little lower in quality. I'll be posting the edited video in a few days, so check back then and I should have about two hours of people running past the camera...you might have been one of those people...but I'm going to let you find yourself.... She was the finest lookin' woman, that I've ever seen
Looked like she stepped right off the cover of a glamor magazine
I've never seen a girl like that in this country town
The facts are black and white when she threw her arms around me
I went crazy, we danced the hoochie-coochie
The tide was rollin' in, I was drownin' in a sea of romance
Then she popped the question in the back seat of my car
"If I let you love me would you let me call you, George"
I said, "Baby, baby, baby
(Baby, baby, baby)
Well, you can call me George Jetson, call me George Jones
I'll be your Georgie-Porgie, all night long"
How was I to know what I was in for
I had it rockin' and a rollin' for a while, by George
By, by, by, by George
We bought a blue refrigerator, satellite and DVDs
A cozy little couch and Motorola TV
She loved to watch those pretty boys with California style
Like a jealous Mickey Rooney, George Clooney drove her wild
And I went crazy
Well, she started growin' distant, I felt her discontent
I couldn't make her happy with what I bought or spent
Her heart grew as cold as the air in the Norge
On which she left a note that read, "Bye George"
And I said, "Baby, baby, baby", yeah
(Baby, baby, baby)
She called me George Jetson, she called me George Jones
I was her Georgie-Porgie, now she's gone
How was I to know what I was in for
I had it rockin' and a rollin' for a while, by George
By, by, by, by, by
By, by, by, by, George
