The Eiffel Tower (/ˈaɪfəl ˈtaʊər/ EYE-fəl TOWR; French: tour Eiffel [tuʁ‿ɛfɛl] listen) is a wrought iron lattice tower on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France. It is named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower. Constructed in 1889 as the entrance to the 1889 World's Fair, it was initially criticized by some of France's leading artists and intellectuals for its design, but has become a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognisable structures in the world. The tower is the tallest structure in Paris and the most-visited paid monument in the world: 6.98 million people ascended it in 2011. The tower received its 250 millionth visitor in 2010.
The tower is 324 metres (1,063 ft) tall, about the same height as an 81-storey building. Its base is square, 125 metres (410 ft) on a side. During its construction, the Eiffel Tower surpassed the Washington Monument to become the tallest man-made structure in the world, a title it held for 41 years until the Chrysler Building in New York City was built in 1930. Due to the addition of the aerial at the top of the tower in 1957, it is now taller than the Chrysler Building by 5.2 metres (17 ft). Not including broadcast aerials, it is the second-tallest structure in France, after the Millau Viaduct.
The Eiffel Tower has been one of my goals for quite a while. Plan A for the Tower was to buy tickets to the second platform & climb out of one of the stairways. This immediately failed as it was just too busy. We didn't really have a plan B so we decided to commit to climbing right up the side from the ground & see what happens. We started the climb at 1AM narrowly avoiding the patrolling security (which seemed more like the French army as they were in full camo & had massive guns) & wormed our way through what seemed like endless CCTV cameras. Once we reached about 20 meters up the side of the tower it appeared we'd made it through what would normally be the riskiest part of any climb. As far as I could tell, the tower was ours for the night. After slowly making our way up through the fra...

Visiting the Eiffel Tower just got a new meaning. Extreme drone and POV footage from climbing the world's most famous tower. It's almost impossible to get to the tower illegally (do not try to repeat this) especially in view of recent political developments and the ongoing European Football Championship. Police and national guard are always on duty on the premises of the tower. The shoot was carried out in the rainy season. The level of Seine river broke the 30-year-old record and the wind speed reached up to 6m/s. The poor drone operator not only crashed the drone but also received a pretty big fine. In July of 2009, I had just arrived in Paris and went to go see the Eiffel tower. I sat down in the Champ de Mars and set up my tripod and camera to take a nice sunset timelapse of the tower. After the time-lapse had begun, I quickly noticed that a storm was moving in and figured that I would get a chance to capture a bolt of lightning hitting the tower. I figured I was safe with my tiny metal tripod on the grass....at least until the rain moved it. I was able to capture a few bolts directly hitting the tower and had to run for cover when the skies opened up and there was an absolute downpour. Production music courtesy of Epidemic Sound
The Eiffel Tower was built for the World's Fair in Paris in 1889 and was initially designed to be dismantled when the fair was over. Construction began in 1887 when they laid the foundations by creating 2m thick concrete slabs under each of the feet. As two of the feet run alongside the river Seine engineers were worried water would creep in, so they created metal shoe structures which kept the French water at bay. A bit like a pair of welly boots. To build the main body they shipped in 18,000 different parts that were prefabricated in a factory and they put them together on site at the banks of the Seine using a whopping 2.5 million rivets. Construction was completed on 31st March 1889 and Gustave Eiffel was the very first person to climb ALL the 1,710 steps! It remained as the worl...

This is a footage of the ride up on the Eiffel Tower's elevator. It's consisted of two separate elevators: the first one gets you either to first or second floor, on the first floor there's a restaurant. For those who want to get to the top of the Eiffel Tower, they need to switch to a second elevator that brings you to the top. In my opinion, on the second floor there's much more to see and it's more seeable because there's no fencing and nothing blocks your view. On the top there's a crisscrossed fence which blocks your view, you can't take a picture or a shoot a video and it pretty much ruins the experience.

It is nicknamed the iron lady due to its beautiful lattice work. Commanding presence the Eiffel tower is the most gazed upon monument. If it's your first time to Paris, you'll probably want to spend some time at the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay, and Notre-Dame, but don't miss out on lesser-known jewels like the Musée Rodin, the Musée de l'Orangerie, and the many markets. There's no way you'll get to do it all — museum-touring, shopping, cemetery-perusing, district-exploring, opera-attending — so plan your own itinerary, group sightseeing nearby attractions together and see Paris on your own terms. I highly recommend using Viator to book your tours, excursions and museum passes ahead of time which is what we did, see: https://www.viator.com/raf/ME3I9ONO1 -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Personal Branding Strategies | Real Talk with Carlos Gil Episode 3" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5m4xPhnIxM -~-~~-~~~-...

Here's some sightseeing tour guide advice when travelling alone (solo). With four days off from work, I hopped onto the first flight to Paris the next day. This is the first episode of my attempt to revisit my favorite places in Paris, France in 2 days. It's amazing how little Paris has changed since my last visit seven years ago. Some travel tips : 1. Because I'm travelling as a non-revenue passenger, I always wait until I arrive before I book my hotel (using the free airport Wi-Fi). 2. Remember that U.S. credit cards don't always work in Europe, so use cash for daily transactions. 3. To avoid theft, wear a money belt containing your essentials : Passport, credit cards, cash and your return plane ticket home. 4. Use the Tourist Information booth at the airport (terminal 1, usually no li...

Today we focus on building the Eiffel Tower in Mincraft Creative, which is going to form a much larger part of out Theme Park. *Edit I forgot to mention the size of area you need for the base, so... Total area needed is 23 by 23 blocks, so as each foot of the tower is 5 by 5, the space between each tower clay foot is 13 blocks!

I'm dizzy walkin outta larry's army wear used
With some black leather shoes and desert BDU's
Many boxes of ammo, i got the camo face paint
Barricaded the tower doors, safe this place ain't
Up to the top, i can see the whole planet it would seem
The sun is beatin on my head as i'm livin my horror dream
Up-chucked a couple times then i finally took aim
A man is chattin on his cell phone, i spattered his brain
A lovely couple started runnin, all the sudden she tripped
He kept right the fuck without her, like he never missed a step
I snapped one to his head, he fell dead to his knees
Then his wife was right there to retrieve the car keys
Not many notice at first, although some do start to scatter
Pluggin iron in they back, who they are it doesn't matter
There's a psychopathic, way up in the tower somewhere
And when they think they outta range [gunshot] poof they hair
[chorus]
And it was hot that day (someone's in the tower)
So fuckin high (shooting from the tower)
And it was hot that day (someone's in the tower)
So fuckin high
I shot the lady in the ass and the kid on the grass
And the daddy on the swing through the lens in his glasses
First cop on the scene will be commended for his services
For now he holds his throat and scream "i didn't deserve this"
The tower too high, i'm bringin shot from above
Cuz my head's a battle royale of serpents, snails, and bugs
I'm quadarpolar, though my snipers scope i see the enemy
The world ain't never been my friend and never pretended to be
I fought in two wars, my country left me poor and sick
Leg missin, agent orange and an un-useable dick
So as i reload, my trigger finger's frozen cold
From squeezing so hard my reason is no control
Warped soul, look at that, pap-pap-krack
Three frat college boys flat, dead on they back
And they lady tryin to hide behind the dead fat guy
Just got one plucked in her eye
[chorus]
And it was hot that day (someone's in the tower)
So fuckin hot (shooting from the tower)
And it was hot that day (someone's in the tower)
So fuckin hot...
I'm finally at war again, only i ain't takin orders
200 yards below, i'm taggin targets, small as quarters
Marksman, sniper, military precision
Spotlight on the tower, tryna nullify my vision
My eyeballs keep rollin in the back of my head
Practicing for any minute when i'm actually dead
They put the tape up, these people think they outta my view
But still, i'm steady pluggin sleepin pills off into them too
I see in strobe light vision and i'm way beyond a panic
My only skill is murder and i'm stuck on automatic
Sweatin profusely, bleedin outta my ears
Their shots are missing by fragments, bullets shavin my hairs
And yet my aim is remarkable, i'm peggin these duck
One by one, jumpin out of those SWAT team trucks
I see the major activity, i'm caughing a chao
Mad... my life went out with a flash
[chorus]
And it was hot that day (someone's in the tower)
So fuckin hot (shooting from the tower)
And it was hot that day (someone's in the tower)
So fuckin hot...
And it was hot that day, so fuckin hot
It shouldn't get that hot, humid and hot
Beatin down on us, so fuckin hot
Too fuckin hot that day, just too fuckin hot
How can it get that hot, how can it be that hot?
