Inspector Gadget 2 (alternatively known as IG2, and credited as just Inspector 2 Gadget at the start credits) is a live-action direct-to-video comedy film, released to VHS and DVD on March 11, 2003. This is based upon the cartoon series created by DiC Entertainment and is a direct-to-video stand-alone sequel to the 1999 film Inspector Gadget and also released by DIC Entertainment. It was filmed in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
The second film departs slightly from the first one as it is more like the original cartoon. Inspector Gadget and Dr. Claw are never referred to as John Brown and Sanford Scolex – their respective civilian names from the first film, though Claw's communicator clearly is labeled "Scolex Industries", indicating that his name is still Sanford Scolex. In addition to this, D. L. Hughley, who reprises his role of the Gadgetmobile, is the only actor from the 1999 film to do so. Also, Gadget's love interest from the first film, Dr. Brenda Bradford, is gone and is replaced by G2 as his girlfriend and Professor Baxter as the person who checks him over. Inspector Gadget is also more goofy, dim-witted, and foolishly inept than he was in the first film, and is unable to control his now glitch-ridden gadgets. As a homage to the original cartoon, Claw's face is never shown and he speaks with a deep, gruff voice. In the previous film, Claw's face was visible and he was depicted as an upper-class businessman. He also appears to be older in age than he was in the original, although the story takes place only one year later. Additionally, the Gadgetmobile is now purple with three yellow Gs, one on his hood and two on his doors.
Inspector Gadget is a 1999 action-comedy film loosely based on the 1983 animated cartoon series of the same name. It starred Matthew Broderick as the title character, along with Rupert Everett as Dr. Claw, Michelle Trachtenberg as Penny, and Dabney Coleman as Chief Quimby. Three new characters were introduced, Dr. Brenda Bradford (played by Joely Fisher), Mayor Wilson (played by Cheri Oteri) and the Gadgetmobile (voiced by D. L. Hughley). The film tells the story of how Inspector Gadget and Dr. Claw came to be in the cartoon.
The film was produced by Caravan Pictures and DIC Entertainment (which was owned by The Walt Disney Company at the time of production) and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. It was filmed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Los Angeles, California, with the ice castle-like main tower of Pittsburgh's PPG Place playing a central role. This was the last film produced by Caravan Pictures before it was absorbed into Spyglass Entertainment. This film was dedicated to the memory of production designer Michael White who died on January 19, 1999 in Los Angeles during production of the film at the age of 36. The film was followed by the 2003 direct-to-video stand-alone sequel Inspector Gadget 2.
Inspector Gadget is a French-Canadian-American animated television series that revolves around the adventures of a clumsy, dim-witted cyborg detective named Inspector Gadget—a human being with various bionic gadgets built into his body. Gadget's nemesis is Dr. Claw, the leader of an evil organization known as "M.A.D."
This is the first syndicated cartoon show from DIC Entertainment (as well as the first from the company to be created specifically for US viewers, along with The Littles). lt originally ran from 1983 to 1986 and remained in syndication into the late 1990s. It continues to air successfully in reruns around the world.
Created by Italian-French cartoonist Bruno Bianchi together with DiC's former Chairman and CEO Andy Heyward and DIC's founder Jean Chalopin, the series was produced by companies in France, Canada, the United States, Taiwan, and Japan. It was a co-production between DIC Entertainment in France (the main headquarters did not move to the US until 1987) and Nelvana in Canada; the animation work was outsourced to foreign studios such as Tokyo Movie Shinsha in Japan and Cuckoo's Nest Studio in Taiwan. It was the first animated television series to be presented in stereo sound.

He has a very simple, rational answer to this; " it's always the most quiet just before criminals strike". Evil must be afoot. In a moment of overzealous crime fighting Gadget arrests an elderly women for wreckless driving, but not without incident. In his effort to make the arrest Gadget's many crime fighting "accessories" go wildly astray. It's time to report back to headquarters for a checkup. Baxter, the "Q" of the Police Department, delivers the prognosis - as he is a prototype things are bound to have some glitches. The remedy is close at hand. But, before Baxter can tell of his new "top secret", Gadget is confronted by a furious Chief Quimby. The little old lady arrested earlier for wreckless driving turns out to be Quimby's mother. Gadget is put on notice - any more mistakes and he is on probation. Meanwhile, in the dead of night, and in a raging storm, something happens that will change Gadget's destiny forever - his arch enemy, his nemesis, Claw makes a daring escape from Riverton Prison. Now, evil really is afoot. Chief Quimby offers Inspector Gadget one last chance to redeem himself through the capture, and return to incarceration, of Claw. And so the chase begins.
