In 2007, Arthur founded Chaotic Sequence Inc., which focuses on producing shorts and features. To date the company has production managed several short films and other projects, as well as Found In Time.
Prior to line producing, Arthur worked in just about every department, for ABC, NBC, BBC America, MSNBC, the Knitting Factory and various independent production companies in the New York City area.
Arthur has written articles on budgeting and postproduction for Indie Slate and Student Filmmaker magazines, and has guest lectured at New York University, the School of Visual Arts, CUNY/Hunter College, Brooklyn College, and Fairleigh Dickinson University. He currently teaches film production management at Montclair State University. He holds a B.F.A. in Film/Television Production from New York University.

The Poetics of Anxiety and Melancholia

Windows: Shoja Azari weaves together a loosely constructed narrative based on 9 single-shot scenes in which windows play a central role in the storytelling. This dark, violent vision of American society presents scenes of office rage, rape, and gun violence. Using the image of a window as a unifying motif (and in one case, the mind's eye), Azari mediates between the internal and the external. In each sequence, he creates an elaborate visual choreography. As the camera pans, tilts, and tracks through the cinematographic space, the protagonists enact their own dramas across different planes of action. Throughout this process, Azari invokes the viewer's imagination by adroitly exploiting the tension between on-screen and off-screen action. This combination of controlled camera movements and narrative suspense recalls such disparate filmmakers as Michael Snow and Alfred Hitchcock.

Arthur
Arthur is a common masculine given name. Its etymology is disputed, but its popularity derives from its being the name of the legendary hero King Arthur.
Art and Artie are diminutive forms of the name. A common spelling variant used in many Slavic, Romance, and Germanic languages is Artur.
Etymology
The origin of the name Arthur remains a matter of debate. Some suggest it is derived from the Roman nomen gentile (family name) Artōrius, of obscure and contested etymology (but possibly of Messapic or Etruscan origin). Some scholars have noted that the legendary King Arthur's name only appears as Arthur, or Arturus, in early Latin Arthurian texts, never as Artōrius (although the Classical Latin Artōrius became Arturius in some Vulgar Latin dialects). However, this may not say anything about the origin of the name Arthur, as Artōrius would regularly become Art(h)ur when borrowed into Welsh.
Another possibility is that it is derived from a Brittonic patronym *Arto-rīg-ios (the root of which, *arto-rīg- "bear-king" is to be found in the Old Irish personal name Art-ri) via a Latinized form Artōrius. Less likely is the commonly proposed derivation from Welsh arth "bear" + (g)wr "man" (earlier *Arto-uiros in Brittonic); there are phonological difficulties with this theory—notably that a Brittonic compound name *Arto-uiros should produce Old Welsh *Artgur and Middle/Modern Welsh *Arthwr and not Arthur (in Welsh poetry the name is always spelled Arthur and is exclusively rhymed with words ending in -ur—never words ending in -wr—which confirms that the second element cannot be [g]wr "man").

It will be released on DVD, streaming and VOD by Green Apple Entertainment. Focal Press just published his non-fiction book on preproduction, Preparing For Takeoff: Preproduction for the Independent Filmmaker.
Caleb's Door, Arthur's first feature, is available on DVD and VOD through distributor Around The Scenes. His short films The Prayer Tree, Matter, Mornir/Mornen, Secret Language have screened at various festivals and art venues.

These films have screened at the Tribeca, Slamdance, Nantucket, SXSW, Rome, Woodstock, and other film festivals, and have gone on to theatrical, DVD and cable distribution. In addition to features, Arthur has line produced industrials, music videos, short films, spec commercials and other projects.
In 2007, Arthur founded Chaotic Sequence Inc., which focuses on producing shorts and features. To date the company has production managed several short films and other projects, as well as Found In Time.
Prior to line producing, Arthur worked in just about every department, for ABC, NBC, BBC America, MSNBC, the Knitting Factory and various independent production companies in the New York City area.
Arthur has written articles on budgeting and postproduction for Indie Slate and Student Filmmaker magazines, and has guest lectured at New York University, the School of Visual Arts, CUNY/Hunter College, Brooklyn College, and Fairleigh Dickinson University. He currently teaches film production management at Montclair State University. He holds a B.F.A. in Film/Television Production from New York University.
