How to make your own crostini
Crostini is Italian for "little toasts". Follow these steps to make them and try our variations, then add to salads, soups or dip platters, or use them as the base for canapes, such as bruschetta.

Step 1:
Preheat oven to 180°C. Cut a baguette (French breadstick) into 5-7mm thick slices. Place, in a single layer, on a baking tray. Brush both sides with oil. Season with salt and pepper.
Step 2:
Bake in oven for 6 minutes each side or until golden. Set aside to cool. Store in an airtight container.
Try these variations
- Parmesan crostini: Halfway through cooking, sprinkle the crostini with finely grated parmesan.
- Garlic crostini: At the end of step 2, drizzle a little extra virgin olive oil over the crostini. Lightly rub 1/2 peeled garlic clove over the crostini.
