A surname or family name is a name added to a given name. In many cases, a surname is a family name and many dictionaries define "surname" as a synonym of "family name". In the western hemisphere, it is commonly synonymous with last name because it is usually placed at the end of a person's given name.
In most Spanish-speaking and Portuguese-speaking countries, two or more last names (or surnames) may be used. In China, Hungary, Japan, Korea, Madagascar, Taiwan, Vietnam, and parts of India, the family name is placed before a person's given name.
The style of having both a family name (surname) and a given name (forename) is far from universal. In many countries, it is common for ordinary people to have only one name or mononym.
The concept of a "surname" is a relatively recent historical development, evolving from a medieval naming practice called a "byname". Based on an individual's occupation or area of residence, a byname would be used in situations where more than one person had the same name.
Nikita Khrushchev becomes Soviet leader after the death of Stalin. Khrushchev rolls back a number of oppressive measures that existed under Stalin, restores relations with Yugoslavia and redirects resources to consumer needs. In a secret speech to the Soviet leadership he condemns Stalin's ruthless rule. West Germany is allowed to rearm, provoking the formation of the Warsaw Pact. Khruschev still wants Eastern Europe to remain within the Soviet orbit - he sends in troops to quell revolts in East Germany, Poland and, most significantly, Hungary. Interviewees include Anatoly Dobrynin, Charles Wheeler and Sergei Khrushchev. The Kitchen Debate was a series of impromptu exchanges (through interpreters) between then U.S. Vice President Richard Nixon and Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev at the opening of the American National Exhibition at Sokolniki Park in Moscow on July 24, 1959. For the exhibition, an entire house was built that the American exhibitors claimed anyone in America could afford. It was filled with labor-saving and recreational devices meant to represent the fruits of the capitalist American consumer market. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitchen_debates

When Nikita Khrushchev became the first Soviet Premier ever to visit the U.S., celebrations ran high. So did tensions. "Cold War Roadshow" premieres November 18 on American Experience PBS.
Another superb documentary by Professor David Reynolds. In 1961, John F. Kennedy met the Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev in an atmosphere of intense Cold War friction and rivalry. This film tells the story of that meeting. Uploaded for educational purposes only.
This clip emphasizes the impact that Nikita Khrushchev's denunciation of Stalin at the Twentieth Party Congress of the Communist Party in February 1956 had on international relations, especially Sino-Soviet relations. (Source: PBS Documentary The Soviets).

I just got the news
You're back in town
You're working for a good time
Are you still going down
You're little too crazy
You ain't gonna last
The candle lit at both ends
And it's burning too fast
You're going down (*)
Out of control
You're on a crash dive baby
You're talking too much
You're run out of time
You're walking on the limit
You're way out of line
It's a little too easy
To get what you will
You're running with the wolf baby
You're there for the kill
(Repeat *)
I just got the news
You're back in town
You're looking for a good time
You're still hanging round
(Repeat *)
