A camera operator, also called a cameraman or a camerawoman, is a professional operator of a film or video camera. In filmmaking, the leading camera operator is usually called a cinematographer, while a camera operator in a video production may be known as a television camera operator, video camera operator, or videographer, depending on the context and technology involved, usually operating a professional video camera.
The camera operator is responsible for physically operating the camera and maintaining composition and camera angles throughout a given scene or shot. In narrative filmmaking, the camera operator will collaborate with the director, director of photography, actors and crew to make technical and creative decisions. In this setting, a camera operator is part of a film crew consisting of the director of photography and one or more camera assistants. In documentary filmmaking and news, the camera is often called on to film unfolding, unscripted events. In 2006, there were approximately 27,000 television, video, and motion picture camera operators employed in the United States.
Joseph Frank "Buster" Keaton (October 4, 1895 – February 1, 1966) was an American actor, director, producer, writer, and stunt performer. He was best known for his silent films, in which his trademark was physical comedy with a consistently stoic, deadpan expression, earning him the nickname "The Great Stone Face". Keaton was recognized as the seventh-greatest film director by Entertainment Weekly. In 1999, the American Film Institute ranked Keaton the 21st greatest male star of Classic Hollywood Cinema. Critic Roger Ebert wrote of Keaton's "extraordinary period from 1920 to 1929, [when] he worked without interruption on a series of films that make him, arguably, the greatest actor-director in the history of the movies". His career declined afterward with a dispiriting loss of his artistic independence when he was hired by MGM, which resulted in a crippling alcoholism that ruined his family life. He recovered in the 1940s, remarried, and revived his career to a degree as an honored comic performer for the rest of his life, earning an Academy Honorary Award in 1959.
The Cameraman is a 1928 American silent comedy directed by Edward Sedgwick and an uncredited Buster Keaton. The picture stars Buster Keaton, Marceline Day, Harold Goodwin, and others.
The Cameraman was Keaton's first film with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. It is considered by fans and critics to be Keaton still in top form, and it was added to the National Film Registry in 2005 as being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
Within a little over a year, however, MGM would take away Keaton's creative control over his pictures, thereby causing drastic and long-lasting harm to his career. Keaton was later to call the move to MGM "the worst mistake of my career."
Buster (Buster Keaton), a sidewalk tintype portrait photographer in New York City, develops a crush on Sally (Marceline Day), a secretary who works for MGM Newsreels. To be near her, he purchases an old film camera, emptying his bank account, and attempts to get a job as one of MGM's filmers. Harold (Harold Goodwin), an MGM cameraman who has designs on Sally himself, mocks his ambition.

cameraman run faster than athletes Amazing This camera man deserves a gold medal! Why don't the cameramen get gold medals? Orginally, I thought this might have been the end of a long run, where I could realistically see the camera man out running an athlete on the last stretch. yeah the timer has them having run for 26mins, I can totally see him out running them in that last stretch if he sat back and watched them all that time. Olympic cameraman racing. Make it happen. Look at the average pace of an Olympic distance race. Their final lap is faster than you could run your first lap, and their final 100m would beat your first. Missed my big chance on this thread... if he can pass the athletes like that he would probably be in contention for 200m himself. So you're saying if he could run...
A cameraman didn't miss a beat as he ran across monkey bars and on top of benches and tables, all to seamlessly film a parkour stuntman doing tricks. Cameraman Florian Hatwagner ran alongside parkour stuntman Jason Paul as he flipped his way across a park. The Austrian-based camera man, who goes by the name Gimbalninja online, posted the video to Facebook. Without any camera shakes and not missing any of the action, Hatwagner proved to be one of the best operators around.
The tables have turned and nobody is safe. Usually the people behind the camera get to laugh at the misfortune of others but not this time...
