NSW Premier Mike Baird has announced his retirement from politics.

In a statement on Twitter, Mr Baird said he was ready to move on from politics after 10 years in public life.

Mr Baird has been Premier of NSW since April 2014, taking over after Barry O'Farrell's resignation.

No, but women of different ages often tell me they love what I'm doing and to not get skinny and weird.

As a lover of, and performer in, musicals, what musical would you like to write?

One that makes the heart soar! We know musicals can be funny. And silly. But it's moments like America from West Side Story, or Heaven on Their Minds from Jesus Christ Superstar that just give me goosebumps.

You're a great improviser in RocKwiz and as co-host of the Eurovision Song Contest. What do you like about thinking on the spot?

Learning to improvise is one of the best training tools you can have. There is a misconception that because it's ''made up'' there are no rules or concepts behind it but there are.

Are you madly athletic or a bit of a couch-slumper?

I would say I swing violently between mad jogging periods and intense 90-minute ashtanga classes at 6am to consuming tubs of ice-cream on my couch in front of the TV.

What is the first career-related thing you do each day?

Put my contact lenses in. Blind without them. If I can't see 100 per cent in focus I can't concentrate.

Do you still not have a credit card? Or have you given in?

How do people not get that they are a scam? A form of gambling? A way to spend money you don't have?

What sort of car driver are you?

Late bloomer. Didn't drive until I was 35. There's a slogan for you.

What is your favourite newspaper in the world?

One with the crossword left bare.

Do you prefer reading a newspaper online or on newsprint?

I prefer big papery, double pagey, inky, printy ones.

You are a lover, and fine wearer, of frocks. Are they all vintage or fancy new threads?

Usually vintage, real and pretend. I have a small collection that I started 25 years ago from Newtown op shops, Le Marche aux Puces in Paris and Shag in Melbourne. The whole point of vintage is that it's recycled, well made and worth wearing again and again.

Who is your favourite human?

The human who sticks up for others, questions, loves and has manners.

What website do you spend too much time on?

The Writers' Studio. I am doing a 10-month online writing course with them and it's challenging, exciting and frustrating. As it should be.

You used to work at a classic hits radio station. What songs can you not bear to hear any more?

The Eagles. Generally.

How many people are on the waiting list to be on RocKwiz? We heard it was 20,000.

Contestants have said to me, as we are about to step on stage, that they have been waiting two years to get in the audience, let alone on the show itself. With the Kwizlist newsletter, we're actually up to 32,961. And of course there's Facebook. Sometimes people get lucky.

Do you spend much time in your birthplace, Aix-en-Provence in the south of France?

I have only been there a handful of times in the past 20 years. It's a beautiful place. When I walk down the main boulevard, Le Cours Mirabeau, I think of black-and-white photos of my father as a teenager, sauntering, smoking, socialising.

Do people perpetually ask you about the Saturdays you attended acting school alongside Nicole Kidman?

No. But apparently Nicole is perpetually asked about having gone to the same classes as me. It's very awkward. For her, mainly.

What government portfolio would you excel at?

Transport. I would make public transport free for a year. I know the system can be pretty poor but a year would be long enough for people to see some real benefits of walking and leaving the car at home.

What is your earliest childhood memory?

French cousins, artichokes, a grey-and-white cat, sneaking chocolate, Asterix and Tintin, dressing up, Tamarama beach, cutting things up with child-proof scissors, Abba.

Do you consider yourself pretty thick-skinned?

I thought I was but I'm not. But you do have to find a little place in yourself where you just can't care what people think all the time. Reviewers, red-carpet commentators, fans, bloggers can get it so right and so wrong. What can you do? It is what it is.

The only thing about that which I understood was that you think Christmas shows are no longer shown on TV because of "the muslims."

Well, you know what? Christmas specials are still shown every single year. Christmas celebrations and activities have never been cancelled in Australia to appease muslims either, for that matter.

And, for what it's worth, Islam is not not the only religion in Australia that does not observe Christmas. We also have Buddhists, Jews, Taoists, Zoroastrians, Druze, Baha'i, Shinto, Hindu, and of course the animist First Nations people. Hell, not even all Christians observe Christmas! Furthermore, Australia is a secular state. We are not, never have been, and probably never will be a theocracy.

And while I'm at it, the idea that "Islam can get more money from center link then us Aussie if u have two or three wife's at home you get more money" is utter nonsense. Polygamy is illegal in this country, and Centrelink will not pay you more for having more than wife.

..and: "I'm single mother I only get little money from center link and I'm Australian".
Well, yeah. Nobody gets very much money from Centrelink unless you want to rort the system. My last neighbours had worked out an amazing scam where each of the four adults in the household were somehow the carer for one of the others. They each got paid more each fortnight than myself and my then-fiancee brought home for the same fortnight combined - in full-time jobs.
Were they muslim? No. They were white, bogan Australians.
