Just Open: Tella Balls Dessert Bar
Need a Nutella fix? Feast your eyes on one of Tella Balls' Nutella-based desserts.
Remember those milkshakes topped with Nutella-filled doughnuts that dispersed across your internet feeds like wildfire? Spread the news and tella everyone, because the Tella Balls boys are opening a third Tella Balls Dessert Bar in Concord that's set to be even more sugar-fuelled than its predecessors.
Aki Daikos, co-owner of the flagship Tella Balls bar in Dulwich Hill, and business partner Simon Kappatos have watched their dessert-powered business almost break Instagram and expand rapidly since opening in early 2016.
The pair's second Tella Balls store opened at Moore Park Entertainment Quarter in October.
Filling thousands of people with doughnuts, gelato, cruffins, waffles and milkshakes, all their desserts are focused on showcasing the famous hazelnut-chocolate spread – Nutella.
"Concord is the ideal place to expand our [brand]. It's one of the biggest dining precincts in the inner west and there are a lot of other successful restaurants and cafes in the area," Daikos says.
Along with the tella ball doughnuts, Daikos and Kappatos are famous for their dessert takes on savoury dishes, like their Nutella "lasagne".
Last month the pair launched their Pastatella dish, made from two crepes stripped like fettuccine, topped with vanilla gelato and melted milk and white chocolate, and sprinkled with white chocolate "parmesan" shavings.
If doughnuts seem too pedestrian, you can also have a go at a 'gelat-dough' – a doughy gelato disguised as a doughnut on a stick. Prepare your stomachs appropriately.
"We're really excited about coming into Concord. It's a really cool area and an awesome hub for dining," Daikos says.
After a great response to their Dulwich Hill and Entertainment Quarter stores, the pair are hoping to expand their brand Australia-wide and possibly overseas.
Sydneysiders can go even more hazel-nuts over Nutella when Tella Balls Dessert Bar officially opens its Concord doors on December 5 and will open daily 11am-11pm.
