José Elias Moedim Júnior, (born 25 September 1976), commonly known as Zé Elias, is a retired Brazilian footballer. A defensive midfielder, he played for 12 different teams, in seven different countries.
Born in São Paulo, Elias was one of the youngest players to ever appear for Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, already gaining strong interest from PSV Eindhoven during 1993–94. Upon his debut for his hometown team, he had not yet reached his seventeenth birthday.
After becoming an undisputed starter at Corinthians and first appearing for the Brazilian national team at 19, Elias went overseas, representing, with moderate individual success, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, F.C. Internazionale Milano, Bologna F.C. 1909, Olympiacos FC (winning three Greek championships in a row but playing sparingly, a maximum of 18 league appearances) and Genoa CFC.
After a return to Brazil with Santos FC, Elias had short-lived stints with FC Metalurh Donetsk, Guarani Futebol Clube, Omonia Nicosia and Londrina Esporte Clube. He retired as a player in March 2008 and assumed a scouting role in Brazil for Inter Milan. However, in June, Elias signed a contract with SC Rheindorf Altach for the 2008–09 season, before announcing his retirement again.
Well I've seen a lot of letters and it seems to me
There's something real special 'bout the letter 'Z'
But boy we're sick of singing 'bout zippers and zoos
There ain't enough 'Z' words
Got the ZZ Blues
You can stick with 'zebra' 'cause it's tried and true
Maybe mention 'zither' just for something new
But once you've shown them 'zebra', 'zither', 'zippers' and 'zoos'
You're almost out of 'Z' words
Got the ZZ Blues
Time to write a song about Zanzibar
C'mon and sing along about Zanibar
Guess I could be wrong about Zanzibar
Going zingy with the ZZ Blues
We're zooming back to zipper 'cause it's still the best
Zipping back to zebra and we need a rest
Gettin' tired of thinking
Yeah we've paid our dues
There ain't enough Z words
Got the ZZ Blues
(band starts falling asleep while still rocking!)
Only band I ever worked with to fall asleep and keep playing the blues!
Guess I might as well join 'em
and cop some Zs myself!
(ends with band asleep but the music still going!)
