NATIONAL Geographic is a brand over a century old, but that hasn’t stopped them from embracing the digital age.

Their world renowned photographers took creative control of Instagram with the team of about 100 professionals uploading images in real time from around the world for their 59 million followers to see. The rare and incredible sights that their eyes, and lenses, captured has been well received gaining over a billion likes to date.

And now you can own a collection of these amazing images in the book titled @NATGEO: The Most Popular Instagram Photos which showcases300 of the most liked and commented on pictures.

From the slums of Haiti, a close up of a fearsome tiger or a glimpse into the life of a veteran mariner, the images have captured the diversity of our world.

One of National Geographic’s leading photographers, and adventurers, Cory Richards, was there from the moment the Instagram account was born.

He is a passionate believer in the power of storytelling — on social media, in person and on the page — to inspire, connect and propel change.

He most recently shared his journey climbing Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen in real time on the social media platform, Snapchat.

Instagram CEO and Co-Founder Kevin Systrom said National Geographic’s images have long captivated the public by showing our world to us. Systrom said the book of Instagram images now gives people the gift of that access in the palm of our hands and the luxury to enjoy it in full on the page.
