Reptiles are a group (Reptilia) of tetrapod animals comprising today's turtles, crocodilians, snakes, amphisbaenians, lizards, tuatara, and their extinct relatives. The study of these traditional reptile groups, historically combined with that of modern amphibians, is called herpetology. Birds are also often included as a sub-group of reptiles by modern scientists.
The earliest known proto-reptiles originated around 312 million years ago during the Carboniferous period, having evolved from advanced reptiliomorph tetrapods that became increasingly adapted to life on dry land. Some early examples include the lizard-like Hylonomus and Casineria. In addition to the living reptiles, there are many diverse groups that are now extinct, in some cases due to mass extinction events. In particular, the K–Pg extinction wiped out the pterosaurs, plesiosaurs, ornithischians, and sauropods, as well as many species of theropods (e.g. tyrannosaurids and dromaeosaurids), crocodyliforms, and squamates (e.g. mosasaurids).

Welcome to the official start of A.V. Undercover 2015, and thanks for joining us for season six. Just yesterday, we revealed the song list for this year, which includes lots of potentially awesome stuff. As you may have noticed from the pre-season episode, we’re separating the interviews from the performances this year, and asking the bands some extra questions for your amusement. (Sometimes, anyway.) First up, it’s the thoroughly awesome Punch Brothers, who covered The Cars for us way back in 2012. This time, they’re cheating just a bit, since a song that they already knew happened to be on this year’s list. Still, you can never hear a banjo- and mandolin-assisted cover of The Strokes’ “Reptilia” too many times. Enjoy, and we’ll see you next week for the next 30 weeks. Visit The A.V. Clu...

He seemed impressed by the way you came in.
'Tell us a story
I know you're not boring'
I was afraid that you would not insist.
'You sound so sleepy
just take this, now leave me'
I said please don't slow me down
If I'm going too fast
You're in a strange part of our town...
Yeah, the night's not over
You're not trying hard enough,
Our lives are changing lanes
You ran me off the road,
The wait is over
I'm now taking over,
You're no longer laughing
I'm not drowning fast enough.
Now every time that I look at myself
'I thought I told you
this world is not for you'
The room is on fire as she's fixing her hair
'you sound so angry
just calm down, you found me'
I said please don't slow me down
If I'm going too fast
You're in a strange part of our town...
Yeah, the night's not over
You're not trying hard enough,
Our lives are changing lanes
You ran me off the road,
The wait is over
I'm now taking over,
You're no longer laughing
I'm not drowning fast enough.
