A film released during World War 2 on the then recently formed Citizens Advice Bureau. The Citizens Advice service is 75 years old this year (2014). I used to describe myself as a 'poor man's lawyer' so it was interesting to see where it came from! Some of the quotes in here are pretty special - staff and volunteers of CABx in particular will appreciate them - enjoy :)
Britain's Ministry of Information produced hundreds of propaganda films during WWII. TROOP SHIP dates from around 1940, and shows a converted ocean liner drafted into Royal Navy service transporting soldiers to the front in North Africa. Told from the perspective of a soldier, the film contains wonderful footage shot on board ship during an eight week sea journey. Throughout the voyage, a convoy of warships escorts the ocean liner.

Two warring factions from South Sudan held direct peace talks on Sunday for the first time since conflict broke out in the country last month, sending hundreds of thousands of people fleeing for safety.
The direct talks, focused on a cease-fire and the release of political prisoners, put representatives of President Salva Kiir and former Vice President Riek Machar together in Ethiopia.
The talks between the two parties were delayed on Saturday because the sides had not yet agreed upon an agenda.
Speaking at Sunday's news conference, South Sudan's Information Minister said the government was "not ready to negotiate on pre-conditions," including calls from the rebels and the international community to release detainees.
Michael Makuei Lueth insisted that the government would not give in to international pressure to immediately release politicians detained after an alleged attempted coup last month.
"Each and every one will answer for the attempted coup," he told reporters.
President Salva Kiir says the fighting was sparked by a coup attempt mounted by soldiers loyal to Machar on 15 December.
However, that account has been disputed by some officials of the ruling party who say the violence began when presidential guards, from Kiir's Dinka ethnic group, tried to disarm those from the Nuer ethnic group to which Machar belongs.
From there, violence spread across the country, with forces loyal to Machar defecting and seizing territory from loyalist forces.
South Sudan has been plagued by ethnic tension and a power struggle within the ruling party that escalated after Kiir dismissed Machar as his vice president in July.
The rebels back Machar, who is now a fugitive sought by the military.
The UN has said at least 1,000 people have died. Some 200,000 people have been displaced by the fighting.

Terry Gilliam
Terrence Vance "Terry" Gilliam (/ˈɡɪliəm/; born 22 November 1940) is an American-born British screenwriter, film director, animator, actor, comedian and member of the Monty Python comedy troupe.
Gilliam has directed 12 feature films, including Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), Time Bandits (1981), Brazil (1985), The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988), The Fisher King (1991), 12 Monkeys (1995), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998), The Brothers Grimm (2005) and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009). The only "Python" not born in Britain, he became a naturalised British citizen in 1968 and formally renounced his American citizenship in 2006.
Early life
Gilliam was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Beatrice (née Vance) and James Hall Gilliam. His father was a travelling salesman for Folgers before becoming a carpenter. Soon after, they moved to nearby Medicine Lake, Minnesota.
The family moved to the Los Angeles neighbourhood of Panorama City in 1952. Gilliam attended Birmingham High School where he was class president and senior prom king. He was voted "Most Likely to Succeed", and achieved straight A's. During high school, he began to avidly read Mad magazine, then edited by Harvey Kurtzman, which would later influence Gilliam's work.

Two warring factions from South Sudan held direct peace talks on Sunday for the first time since conflict broke out in the country last month, sending hundreds of thousands of people fleeing for safety.
The direct talks, focused on a cease-fire and the release of political prisoners, put representatives of President Salva Kiir and former Vice President Riek Machar together in Ethiopia.
The talks between the two parties were delayed on Saturday because the sides had not yet agreed upon an agenda.
Speaking at Sunday's news conference, South Sudan's Information Minister said the government was "not ready to negotiate on pre-conditions," including calls from the rebels and the international community to release detainees.
Michael Makuei Lueth insisted that the government would not give in to international pressure to immediately release politicians detained after an alleged attempted coup last month.
"Each and every one will answer for the attempted coup," he told reporters.
President Salva Kiir says the fighting was sparked by a coup attempt mounted by soldiers loyal to Machar on 15 December.
However, that account has been disputed by some officials of the ruling party who say the violence began when presidential guards, from Kiir's Dinka ethnic group, tried to disarm those from the Nuer ethnic group to which Machar belongs.
From there, violence spread across the country, with forces loyal to Machar defecting and seizing territory from loyalist forces.
South Sudan has been plagued by ethnic tension and a power struggle within the ruling party that escalated after Kiir dismissed Machar as his vice president in July.
The rebels back Machar, who is now a fugitive sought by the military.
The UN has said at least 1,000 people have died. Some 200,000 people have been displaced by the fighting.
