Tokyo Meiji-Jingu - 明治神宮 - 4K Ultra HD : Located in Shibuya, Meiji-Jingu (Meiji Shrine) is a Japanese holy site dedicated to the spirit of the Emperor Meiji and his wife Empress Shoken. Built only recently (from 1915 to 1926), the shrine was built in the traditional ‘nagare-zukuri’ style using mainly copper and Japanese cypress.
Unfortunately, like many other buildings around Tokyo, Meiji-Jingu was destroyed during the Second World War and it is only thanks to the generous donations from Japanese citizens that the structure was rebuilt and restored in 1958.
Open to all, Meiji-Jingu is one of the most visited temples in Japan and also a place where everyone can come and celebrate their union in the purest Japanese tradition.

► Here's a fresh new video of the beautiful Meiji Jingu Shrine in Tokyo - The most important Shinto Shrine in greater Tokyo area.
I was lucky enough to get a glimpse of a wedding ceremony when I was there, which just made things even better.
Meiji Jingu is one of my absolute favorite spots in Tokyo, so if you happen to be in Tokyo, I strongly recommend you visiting this wonderful place. Easy access from Harajuku or Meiji Jingu Mae Station. - Enjoy.

毎年、多くの参拝者が訪れる渋谷区の明治神宮で、境内にある鳥居の1つがおよそ100年ぶりに建て替えられ、きょう、くぐり初めが行われました。
白く光り輝く鳥居は、明治神宮に5つある鳥居のうち、本殿の南側に立つ南玉垣鳥居です。高さはおよそ8.4メートルで、4年後の2020年に明治神宮が鎮座100年を迎えるのを記念して初めて新しいものに建て替えられました。きょうは神職がおはらいをした後、厳かな雰囲気の中、関係者およそ40人が初めて鳥居をくぐる「くぐり初め」を行いました。
鳥居の材料となった木には長野県や愛知県などで育った樹齢200年を超える国産のヒノキが選ばれたということです。明治神宮では2020年の鎮座100年に向けて建物の屋根のふき替えなど修復工事を続けていて、完成後はオリンピックで訪れる海外の人たちにも美しい姿を見せてくれそうです。

Meiji Shrine
Meiji Shrine (明治神宮, Meiji Jingū), located in Shibuya, Tokyo, is the Shinto shrine that is dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shōken. The shrine does not contain the emperor's grave, which is located at Fushimi-momoyama south of Kyoto.
History
After the emperor's death in 1912, the Japanese Diet passed a resolution to commemorate his role in the Meiji Restoration. An iris garden in an area of Tokyo where Emperor Meiji and Empress Shōken had been known to visit was chosen as the building's location.
Construction began in 1915 under Itō Chūta, and the shrine was built in the traditional nagare-zukuri style, using primarily Japanese cypress and copper. The building of the shrine was a national project, mobilizing youth groups and other civic associations from throughout Japan, who contributed labor and funding. It was formally dedicated in 1920, completed in 1921, and its grounds officially finished by 1926. Until 1946, the Meiji Shrine was officially designated one of the Kanpei-taisha (官幣大社), meaning that it stood in the first rank of government supported shrines.

Tokyo Meiji-Jingu - 明治神宮 - 4K Ultra HD : Located in Shibuya, Meiji-Jingu (Meiji Shrine) is a Japanese holy site dedicated to the spirit of the Emperor Meiji and his wife Empress Shoken. Built only recently (from 1915 to 1926), the shrine was built in the traditional ‘nagare-zukuri’ style using mainly copper and Japanese cypress.
Unfortunately, like many other buildings around Tokyo, Meiji-Jingu was destroyed during the Second World War and it is only thanks to the generous donations from Japanese citizens that the structure was rebuilt and restored in 1958.
Open to all, Meiji-Jingu is one of the most visited temples in Japan and also a place where everyone can come and celebrate their union in the purest Japanese tradition.

I was lucky enough to get a glimpse of a wedding ceremony when I was there, which just made things even better.
Meiji Jingu is one of my absolute favorite spots in Tokyo, so if you happen to be in Tokyo, I strongly recommend you visiting this wonderful place. Easy access from Harajuku or Meiji Jingu Mae Station. - Enjoy.

The famous 300-meter avenue lined with gingko tree leading to the Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery is spectacular.

So now you are in Tokyo and you don't want to spend the day going from a place to another in a dark subway, right?
So here there is my recommendation, an awesome tour of 5 of the best places in Tokyo, all at a walking distance!
Obviously there are more than 5 things to do in Tokyo and each person has their own favorite places to visit. That being said, if you are a first timer in Japan, I recommend you spend half a day to do this tour. SERIOUSLY. Do this and you'll save a lot of time. Unless you want to see Sumo or the fish market, but if you are around my age, you will love this tour. You see the beautiful Japanese Meiji Shrine, see the crazy young Takeshitadori, the cool&hip; Harajuku Cat Street, get lost in Shibuya crossing, walk through the insane Center Street in Shibuya, and check out a really cool shop in Shibuya called LOFT for some shopping. Not to mention one of the best beers/ales in Tokyo and tons of shops on the way.

I don't really have much clips of Takeshita Dori because I was tempted by all the cute clothes and accessories there. Lastly, I saw some post about the Condomania in Japan as I was researching Harajuku. To my surprise, we really found the store while wondering around the Harajuku area O.O So I wanted to include the clip in the video! Don't think naughty please d(~.~)b Haha!! Couple or not you should check it out!!
