Lake Huron (French: Lac Huron) is one of the five Great Lakes of North America. Hydrologically, it comprises the easterly portion of Lake Michigan–Huron, having the same surface elevation as its westerly counterpart, to which it is connected by the 5-mile-wide (8.0 km), 20-fathom-deep (120 ft; 37 m) Straits of Mackinac. It is shared on the east by the Canadian province of Ontario and on the west by the state of Michigan in the United States. The name of the lake is derived from early French explorers who named it for the Huron people inhabiting the region. The huronian glaciation was named due to evidence collected from Lake Huron region. The northern parts of the lake include the North Channel and Georgian Bay. The main inlet is the St. Marys River and the main outlet is the St. Clair.
By surface area, Lake Huron is the second-largest of the Great Lakes, with a surface area of 23,000 square miles (59,600 km2) making it the third-largest fresh water lake on Earth (and the fourth-largest lake, if the Caspian Sea is counted as a lake). By volume however, Lake Huron is only the third largest of the Great Lakes, being surpassed by Lake Michigan in this aspect. When measured at the Low Water Datum, the lake contains a volume of 850 cubic miles (3,540 km3) and a shoreline length (including islands) of 3,827 mi (6,159 km).
Huron refers to the Wendat indigenous people of North America and to their Wendat language, part of the Iroquoian languages family. Located to the north of the Great Lakes, they were Native allies to the French during the French and Indian War in North America. The term may also refer to:

A lake is an area of variable size filled with water, localized in a basin, that is surrounded by land, apart from any river or other outlet that serves to feed or drain the lake. Lakes lie on land and are not part of the ocean (except for sea lochs in Scotland and Ireland), and therefore are distinct from lagoons, and are also larger and deeper than ponds, though there are no official or scientific definitions. Lakes can be contrasted with rivers or streams, which are usually flowing. However most lakes are fed and drained by rivers and streams.
Natural lakes are generally found in mountainous areas, rift zones, and areas with ongoing glaciation. Other lakes are found in endorheic basins or along the courses of mature rivers. In some parts of the world there are many lakes because of chaotic drainage patterns left over from the last Ice Age. All lakes are temporary over geologic time scales, as they will slowly fill in with sediments or spill out of the basin containing them.
Many lakes are artificial and are constructed for industrial or agricultural use, for hydro-electric power generation or domestic water supply, or for aesthetic or recreational purposes.
The Great Lakes (also called the Laurentian Great Lakes, or the Great Lakes of North America) are a series of interconnected freshwater lakes located in northeastern North America, on the Canada–United States border, which connect to the Atlantic Ocean through the Saint Lawrence River. Consisting of Lakes Superior, Michigan, Huron (or Michigan–Huron), Erie, and Ontario, they form the largest group of freshwater lakes on Earth, containing 21% of the world's surface fresh water by volume. The total surface is 94,250 square miles (244,106 km2), and the total volume (measured at the low water datum) is 5,439 cubic miles (22,671 km3). Due to their sea-like characteristics (rolling waves, sustained winds, strong currents, great depths, and distant horizons) the five Great Lakes have also long been referred to as inland seas. Lake Superior is the second largest lake in the world by area, and Lake Michigan is the largest lake that is entirely within one country. The southern half of the Great Lakes is surrounded by the Great Lakes Megalopolis.

This video is a trip recap of my April 27th, 2013 venture out on the big lake (Lake Huron). The lake had unfavorable conditions all spring, and this was the first time it was fishable for me in 2013. I end up going 2-2 on this morning adventure with a nice 14 pound King Salmon and a 10 pound Lake Trout. Enjoy and Thanks for watching!

Visit Our Website: Waterfront-LuxuryHomes.com Michigan is a U.S. state located in the Great Lakes Region of the United States of America. The name Michigan is a French alteration of the Ojibwe word mishigamaa, meaning "large water." It has the longest freshwater coastline of any political subdivision in the world, being bounded by four of the five Great Lakes. Michigan is one of the leading U.S. states for recreational boating. The state has 64,980 inland lakes and ponds. A person in the state is never more than six miles (10 km) from a natural water source or more than 85 miles (137 km) from a Great Lakes shoreline. Give me some paper and a pen
And I will write you
The starry art of
Broken heart
Of golden dreams that fell apart
Behind the wall where sorrows fall
Like Rain
Give me some music and the moon
And I will sing
A ocean full of fallen stars
A landscape letter with this scar
Of cruel lies
Where on earth tried
Like Rain
I'm fallen and you know why
Cause like the sky you have me
And love me so
Then let me go
Like Rain
Build me a stairway to the past
And I will take you
Beyond the reasons to forget
Into dimensions of regret
Where memories sleep
And gently weeps
Like Rain
I'm fallen and you know why
Cause like the sky you have me
And love me so
Then let me go
Like Rain
MUSIC..
Give me some paper and a pen
And I will write you
The starry art of
Broken heart
Of golden dreams that fell apart
Behind the wall where sorrows fall
Like Rain
Behind the wall where sorrows fall
