Suburban Melbourne is being invaded by thousands of wayward Kangaroos.

Wildlife Victoria rescue teams are called to close to nine thousand cases a year where 'roos have had to be rescued.

Spokesperson Amy Hidge has told Ross and John it averages out at 24 a day.

"There are some days in peak periods where we have 50 recorded to our service." Amy said on 3AW Breakfast.

"These are Kangaroos that are pushed out of their urban fringe habitat due to urban development, and they just don't have anywhere to go."
