Police Association calls on courts to 'toughen up' after senior constable stabbed between eyes

Date

The Police Association is furious after a senior member was stabbed between the eyes during a terrifying home invasion.

It's been revealed the alleged attacker was a 19-year-old man who had been bailed twice within a fortnight.

Senior Constable Daniel Yeoman was stabbed multiple times during the home invasion just before 2am on Saturday.

He also sustained an injury to his temple.

Police Association secretary Ron Iddles said the victim could have been anybody.

He called on the courts to toughen up.

"Quite clearly, some magistrates are failing community expectations," Mr Iddles said on 3AW Breakfast.

"Some magistrates, not all, need to stop listening to sob stories."
