New research shows introducing daylight saving could help stabilise Queensland's dwindling koala population.

But the southern states have got another thing coming if they think that'll be enough to convince Queenslanders to adopt the change.

4BC's Mark Braybrook moved to Queensland more than 20 years ago and told Ross and John "you learn very quickly" to leave the matter alone.

"If there's one thing you don't talk about in south east Queensland…" he said with a laugh.
