As the weather begins to heat up, locals are flocking back to Perth beaches - and now there's something in the water that will make you want to stay just a bit longer.
A new snorkel trail is set to open this summer at Coogee Beach just south of Fremantle, and features an artificial reef and educational signage to create a unique underwater experience.

The structure was lowered just south of Port Coogee in July, and Trails WA said the reef had already begun to attract natural flora and fauna.
Local artists have also contributed to the installation, which boasts a reef temple, a giant swim-through starfish and a six-metre tall sea lion statue.
