Four people involved in standoff with police at Wacol Youth Detention Centre

Four detainees spent more than two hours on top of a roof and awning at the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre at Wacol on Thursday, forcing police to bring a negotiator on scene.

The standoff began about 11.30am, with two people climbing an awning and two others scaling a roof.

After two hours, two detainees came down and the remaining pair ended the standoff just before 3pm.

There were no reported injuries and the Department of Justice said the motives for the detainees actions was unclear.

The DoJ will review the incident but said in a statement "at no time was there risk to public safety" and "no threats were made to staff".
