Meteorological Administration, Meteorological Agency, Meteorological Service, Weather Bureau, or Weather Service may refer to:
The Japan Meteorological Agency (気象庁, Kishō-chō), frequently abbreviated to JMA, is an agency of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. It is charged with gathering and providing results for the public in Japan, that are obtained from data based on daily scientific observation and research into natural phenomena in the fields of meteorology, hydrology, seismology and volcanology, among other related scientific fields. Its headquarters is located in Chiyoda, Tokyo.
JMA is also designated one of the Regional Specialized Meteorological Centers of the World Meteorological Organization. It has the responsibility for forecasting, naming and distribution of warnings for tropical cyclones in the Northwestern Pacific region, including the Celebes Sea, the Sulu Sea, the South China Sea, the East China Sea, the Yellow Sea, the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk.

Japan (i/dʒəˈpæn/; Japanese: 日本 Nippon [nip̚põ̞ɴ] or Nihon [nihõ̞ɴ]; formally 日本国
Nippon-koku or Nihon-koku, "State of Japan") is an island country in East Asia. Located in the Pacific Ocean, it lies to the east of the Sea of Japan, the East China Sea, China, North Korea, South Korea and Russia, stretching from the Sea of Okhotsk in the north to the East China Sea and Taiwan in the south. The kanji that make up Japan's name mean "sun origin", and Japan is often called the "Land of the Rising Sun".
Japan is a stratovolcanic archipelago of 6,852 islands. The four largest are Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Shikoku, which make up about ninety-seven percent of Japan's land area. Japan's population of 126 million is the world's tenth largest. Approximately 9.1 million people live in Tokyo, the capital city of Japan, which is the sixth largest city proper in the OECD. The Greater Tokyo Area, which includes Tokyo and several surrounding prefectures, is the world's largest metropolitan area with over 35 million residents and the world's largest urban agglomeration economy.
Agency may refer to:
The Port of Tokyo is one of the largest Japanese seaports and one of the largest seaports in the Pacific Ocean basin having an annual traffic capacity of around 100 million tonnes of cargo and 4,500,000 TEU's.
The port is also an important employer in the area having more than 30,000 employees that provide services to more than 32,000 ships every year.
The forerunner of the Port of Tokyo, the Edo Port (Edo Minato) played a very important role in the history of marine transport of Japan and as a distribution point for supplying goods for the people of Edo. During the Tokugawa Shogunate the Port of Tokyo was not allowed to open to international trade, although the neighbouring Port of Yokohama was already open for this kind of trade.
The development of the port was finally encouraged during the Meiji Period with the influence of a project that was meant to improve the estuary of the Sumida River by dredging channels and reclaiming land at Tsukishima and Shibaura.
The Kanto earthquake in 1923 served as a starting point of a full - scale terminal construction project, which was topped out with the opening of the first terminal Hinode in 1925. Alongside the completion of another two terminals, Shibaura and Takeshiba, the Port of Tokyo opened for international trade on May 20, 1941.

The JMA’s new weather service receives raw data via the Himawari-8 satellite located at 140° East in geostationary orbit. The data is then processed and provided via JCSAT 2A (to be replaced by JCSAT 2B in 2016) for downlink at meteorological offices throughout Asia and the Pacific. The HimawariCast service distributes imagery every 10 minutes providing a significant improvement over the previous weather imagery service that only provided imagery approximately every 30 minutes. A look at side the Japan Meteorological Agency. This tour con sited of a lecture on the way information is translated at the agency along with the way they develop model guidance at the main office in Tokyo. Special thanks to Gerry Bagtasa at weather-manila.com to setting up this event. A good deal of information was learned but just to see all the Meteorological gadgets and toys they had to create the weather forecast in Japan and to be the RSMC for all of the Western Pacific was good enough. There is a reason why we often say JMA is the official forecast. This video shows you how much personal and equipment they are using to create weather forecast. The earthquake occurred at around 1.25am local time. Local media reported that Japan's Meteorological Agency issued a tsunami warning for coastal areas in the Kumamoto Prefecture, but it was lifted about 50 minutes later. This video was shot on Periscope by Noel Vincent, an American who lives in Kumamoto, shortly after the earthquake on April 16.
