NH 1 - A journey to nowhere (Dharamsala-Srinagar-Kargil-Leh-Pangong) Travelogue Starring :- Dr.Prithavi Raj Negi , Dr.Preet Thakur ,Dr.Digvijay Negi , DR. Chandan Bhatia and Dr. Siddhant Negi. We Planned our trip by the june of 2015. We arranged everything using all means possible. Day 1( 7 june 2015 11:00 hours) We started from dharamsala and reached Srinagar by 1:00 am . We stayed in a houseboat for INR2500. Everything about the hosueboat was absolutely perfect. Tip for the day - 1)Start as early as possible otherwise there are high chances you'll get stuck in army of trucks. 2) Book your houseboat online if possible. U just have to register n don't have to pay for it. Day 2 (8th june 5:00 hours) I got up early in the morning so that i can film sunrise. In Srinagar u need a chikara even to grab a beer. Don't miss early morning view of the lake with soothing background music of mosque. We started to cover as much of srinagar as possible till 1:00 pm. We left for kargil at 2:00 pm . This was the way where we found the real kashmir ,what we use to see in old bollywood movies. But the real adventure started when we reached The ZoZilla . We Had dinner at Drass and got a room for 650Rs. Tip for the day - 1)Give a full day to travel around sringar. 2)Start for kargil as early as possible so that u can enjoy nature at Sonmarg and Zozilla pass. 3)Confirm whether pass is open or not, as sometimes they allow vehicles only one way. 4)Zozilla is the toughest part of your whole srinagar to leh journey, so drive carefully. 5)Prefer to stay at Drass only,don't hurry for Kargil as war memorial is just 5km ahead of Drass. 6)There is no provision for electricity during night hours in Drass, So Bring all your devices fully charged from Srinagar only. 7)There is a guest house of PWD in Drass.Book it in advance online(electricity is available here) Day 3( 9th june) - We left for memorial at 6:00 am. This was an amazing experience to be there. After a long time my heart throbbed with patriotism. By 9:00 am we resumed for the leh again. This is when the real cold desert starts . landscapes were changing every 10 min. Yellow rocks, red rocks , green rocks , black rocks & inevitable white Stupas. On the way you can find Fatulla , Gurudwara & Magnetic hill . We reached leh at 3:00 pm. We stayed in a homestay arranged by a friend of us. We did local sight seeing in the evening including Leh Palace and Shanti stupa,had dinner at Tibeten kitchen . This was one of the best meal i ever had. Tip for the day - 1.People of leh are wonderful hosts , they make you feel like home. 2.Give atleast 2 days to roam in leh city. Day4 (10th june)We left for Pangong around 10:00 am. Reached Chhanglaa (the third highest motorable pass in the world)in two hours.This is the place where high chances to get suffered from AMS are there. But the view is mesmerising. We reached pangong by 3:00 pm, had lunch at 3idiots restaurent. View of the lake was beautiful. But freezing wind ruined everything. Hardly i managed to shot some timelapse and videos. Stayed in a tent for INR500 per head. Stay was comfortable and affordable. For dinner i have no words ,they had arranged a buffet at a height of 14000 ft. Tip for the day - 1. Grab atleast 2 oxygen cylinders, Diamox(acetazolamide) tablets from any medical store in leh . 2. U will be needing warm clothes for pangong. 3. Don't drink while traveling. It increases the chances of getting AMS. 4.Carry 5-6 bottles of water with you. Day 5(11th june) Back to leh, Had a full day rest and local sight seeing including thiksey and Rancho's school One of us had to get admitted in civil hopital leh for AMS. Day 6( 12th June) There was a cultural fest named "SINDHU DARSHAN" , you can witness how diverse Ladakh is. Enjoyed it a lot. Must watch. We were about to leave for NUBRA valley.Unfortunately Khardungla(World's highest motorable pass) got closed due to Snowfall. So we had to abort our plan.
