A short view of Alnmouth, 3 miles up the coast from Warkworth. A popular spot during long sunny summer days. Unfortunately the good looking one wasn't with me on this occasion so no pictures of a certain Border Collie on this film!

Alnmouth
Coordinates: 55°23′17″N 1°36′54″W / 55.388°N 1.615°W / 55.388; -1.615
Alnmouth(/əlnˌmaʊθ/ ALN-mowth) is a village in Northumberland, England. It is situated just off the main A1068 road (to Ashington), about 4 miles (6 km) south-east of Alnwick. The population of the civil parish at the 2001 Census was 562, reducing to 445 at the 2011 Census.
Located at the mouth of the River Aln, the village was an important trading port, mainly involved in the export of grain and in smuggling. Due to the trade in grain, the village contained a number of granaries. The port declined after the river changed course during a violent storm in 1806. This incident also resulted in the original church on Church Hill being destroyed. The church had already suffered much erosion by the river and was in a state of collapse. After the loss of the grain exports, the old granaries were converted to houses.
Today, Alnmouth is a tourist resort. It is within the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village has the fourth oldest golf course in England. The original course was established in 1869; it is believed that it was designed by Mungo Park who became the club's first professional.

The Marina houses 290 berths, 40 of which are dedicated to visitors. It would be advisable to call in first to check on availability, which is usually assured. However, if the Marina is full, The Coquet Yacht Club are the people to contact for information on alternative river mooring.
Due to its location, yachtsmen often overlook the harbour as a destination for active sailing. To many cruisers, this is in fact a blessing! It keeps the area quiet for visitors to happily enjoy the tranquil golden beaches, pristine coastlines and unspoilt harbours.
In this clip Allen Brunton, a local berth holder, compares the marina to one in the south and uses Amble Marina as a springboard for trips along the coast and to Norway.
Amble is exceptional for those who enjoy picturesque and interesting walks - white-sand beaches, ruins and wildlife are just a few of the things you can enjoy - including The Farne Islands, home to wildlife such as puffins and seals whilst ancient tumbledown castles provide a dramatic backdrop.
Highly recommended is a visit the ancient monastery and the castles of Dunstanburgh, Bamburgh and Warkworth.
If you fancy a trip on-land, don't forget to visit Alnmouth; a pretty town an hour's walk from Amble and, as the Northeast of England is known for its simple food and fine ales, a pub to visit on your travels would be to the Wellwood Arms.
