Blue Öyster Cult (often abbreviated BÖC) is an American rock band from Long Island, New York, whose most successful work includes the hard rock and heavy metal songs "(Don't Fear) The Reaper", "Godzilla" and "Burnin' for You". Since the release of their eponymous debut album in 1972, the band has sold over 24 million albums worldwide, including 7 million in the United States alone. The band's music videos, especially "Burnin' for You", received heavy rotation on MTV when the music television network premiered in 1981, cementing the band's contribution to the development and success of the music video in modern pop culture.
Blue Öyster Cult's longest lasting and most commercially successful lineup included Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser (lead guitar, vocals), Eric Bloom (lead vocals, "stun guitar"), Allen Lanier (keyboards, rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Joe Bouchard (bass, backing vocals) and Albert Bouchard (drums, percussion, backing vocals). The band's current lineup includes Roeser and Bloom, as well as Jules Radino (drums, percussion), Richie Castellano (keyboard, rhythm guitar, backing vocals), and Kasim Sulton (bass, backing vocals).
Blue is the colour between violet and green on the optical spectrum of visible light. Human eyes perceive blue when observing light with a wavelength between 450 and 495 nanometres. Blues with a higher frequency and thus a shorter wavelength gradually look more violet, while those with a lower frequency and a longer wavelength gradually appear more green. Pure blue, in the middle, has a wavelength of 470 nanometres. In painting and traditional colour theory, blue is one of the three primary colours of pigments, along with red and yellow, which can be mixed to form a wide gamut of colours. Red and blue mixed together form violet, blue and yellow together form green. Blue is also a primary colour in the RGB colour model, used to create all the colours on the screen of a television or computer monitor.
The modern English word blue comes from Middle English bleu or blewe, from the Old French bleu, a word of Germanic origin, related to the Old High German word blao. The clear sky and the deep sea appear blue because of an optical effect known as Rayleigh scattering. When sunlight passes through the atmosphere, the blue wavelengths are scattered more widely by the oxygen and nitrogen molecules, and more blue comes to our eyes. Rayleigh scattering also explains blue eyes; there is no blue pigment in blue eyes. Distant objects appear more blue because of another optical effect called atmospheric perspective.
The word oyster is used as a common name for a number of different families of saltwater clams, bivalve molluscs that live in marine or brackish habitats. In some species the valves are highly calcified, and many are somewhat irregular in shape. Many, but not all, oysters are in the superfamily Ostreoidea.
Some kinds of oysters are commonly consumed by humans, cooked or raw, the latter being a delicacy. Some kinds of pearl oysters are harvested for the pearl produced within the mantle. Windowpane oysters are harvested for their translucent shells, which are used to make various kinds of decorative objects.
First attested in English during the 14th century, the word "oyster" comes from Old French oistre, in turn from Latin ostrea, the feminine form of ostreum, which is the latinisation of the Greek ὄστρεον (ostreon), "oyster". Compare ὀστέον (osteon), "bone".
True oysters are members of the family Ostreidae. This family includes the edible oysters, which mainly belong to the genera Ostrea, Crassostrea, Ostreola, and Saccostrea. Examples include the Belon oyster, eastern oyster, Olympia oyster, Pacific oyster, and the Sydney rock oyster.
We Can Create is the debut album from Northampton-based band Maps, released in 2007. It was shortlisted for the 2007 Mercury Music Prize, but lost out to Klaxons debut album Myths of the Near Future. Five singles were released from the album.
Since the album has been released, it has been seen as a critical success even though sales have been fairly modest. His first North American release, To the Sky EP, was digitally released on May 22 on the same label.
Maps has toured playing the album's songs with a full live line-up. Maps played the Latitude Festival in Southwold on July 13, as well as the Leeds and Reading Festivals on August 24 and 26. They played on five dates in the United States later in the same year.
James was supported by four local musicians for live shows. Phil Thurlby and Matthew Roberts were on keyboards and vocals, Andrew Lowther was on bass and Ben Gordelier was on drums.
On July 17, it was announced that We Can Create had been nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. However, it lost out to Klaxons' debut album Myths of the Near Future.
"Come on Baby" is a song by American electronica musician Moby, released on 4 November 1996 as the second single from his 1996 album Animal Rights. "Come on Baby" was originally released as a 2-CD set in a gatefold rubber sleeve.
Mute pressed up 10,000 copies of the double pack, including 5000 for UK distribution. A second CD was released that collected six of the nine tracks. This CD was distributed to Mute licensees around the world (except for Germany). Germany released the same "worldwide" disc omitting the Crystal Method mix.
The single blended mixes by Eskimos and Egypt and Crystal Method with tracks recorded at the Splash Club.

METALNROCKNROLL4EVA IS BACK BABY! Blue Öyster Cult performs "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" live at the Hollywood Sportatorium in Hollywood, Florida on October 9, 1981. One of the highlights of this performance is Buck Dharma's guitar solo, one of the greatest he's ever performed! I spent hours digitally restoring the audio and video from this rare performance just for you guys! I obtained a decent quality bootleg video source and a high quality master audio source, matched them up in my editing software, and touched up the video quite a bit. Definitely not perfect but it's the best looking this performance will ever look, guaranteed! Nothing but quality from metalnrocknroll4eva \w/ Set List: 1. The Red and the Black 2. E.T.I. Blue Öyster Cult Blue Oyster Cult thanks for the lifetime of music!
1971 auf Long Island,New York gegründet klang eine mysteriösen Bands überhaupt wie
eine Mischung aus Doors,Black Sabbath,Rolling Stones und MC 5.
Eric Bloom (Gesang),Albert Bouchard (Gitarre),Joe Bouchard(Bass) und Allen
Lanier(Schlagzeug) behandelten in ihren Stücken
menschliche Abgründe,die besonders in ihrer
erfolgreichsten Single
"(Don't fear) the reaper",enthalten auf der
1976 erschienen LP "Agents of Fortune" zum
Ausdruck kommen.Auf dieser, ihrer erfolgreichsten Platte, orientierten sie sich
soundtechnisch stark an den Byrds.
"Astronomy","Flamming Telepaths",
"I love the night" sowie der von Patti Smith,
der Geliebten des Schlagzeugers,geschriebene
"Career of Evil" sorgten für Anspruch.
1980 bekam die Band mit Michael Moorcock einen neuen Songwriter, der auf dem
9.Album "Cultosaurus Erectus" sofort glänzen konnte.Zwischendurch hatte man mal eben
