Mongolia i/mɒŋˈɡoʊliə/ (Mongolian: ᠮᠤᠩᠭᠤᠯ
ᠤᠯᠤᠰ [Monggol Ulus] in Mongolian script; Монгол Улс [Mongol Uls] in Mongolian Cyrillic) is a sovereign state in east-central Asia. It is bordered by Russia to the north and China to the south, east and west. While they do not share a border, Mongolia is separated from Kazakhstan by only 36.76 kilometres (22.84 mi). Ulaanbaatar, the capital and largest city, is home to about 45% of the population.
The area of what is now Mongolia has been ruled by various nomadic empires, including the Xiongnu, the Xianbei, the Rouran, the Turkic Khaganate, and others. In 1206, Genghis Khan founded the Mongol Empire, and his grandson Kublai Khan conquered China to establish the Yuan dynasty. After the collapse of the Yuan, the Mongols retreated to Mongolia and resumed their earlier pattern of factional conflict, except during the era of Dayan Khan and Tumen Zasagt Khan. In the 16th century, Tibetan Buddhism began to spread in Mongolia, being further led by the Manchu-founded Qing dynasty, which absorbed the country in the 17th century. By the early 1900s, almost one-third of the adult male population were Buddhist monks.

Subscribe to our channel http://bit.ly/AJSubscribe This week on Counting the Cost Al Jazeera's Steve Chao travelled to Mongolia. Despite being surrounded by global powers such as China and Russia, Mongolia is no economic backwater. The vast country is rich in resources with deposits of coal, copper, and gold worth an estimated $1.3 trillion. On the back of these resources the country saw over 13 per cent growth in 2011 and in the same year spending rose by 56 per cent. However big growth and spending inevitably sparks high inflation and Mongolia is no exception, with 11 per cent inflation in December. So is it all too much, too fast? And is the Mongolian economy over-reliant on these natural resources? To answer these questions Counting the Cost spoke to Tsakhiagin Elbegdorj, the Mongol...
한-몽골 경제협력 강화 필요 In light of President Park Geun-hye's trip to Mongolia,... attention is on how the visit could elevate economic ties between the two sides. Kim Min-ji takes a closer look into the potential of a country dubbed the 'Gateway to Eurasia' Mongolia has the world's second largest copper reserves and the fourth biggest coal deposits. So it should come as little surprise that the mining sector is the main driver of the Mongolian economy -- accounting for almost a quarter of the country's GDP. During its transition from a socialist country to a market-driven economy -- such resources were a stepping stone to achieve economic growth. Until recently, Mongolia has experienced double-digit growth. It has now somewhat slowed,... due mainly to a decline in raw material prices,... as well...
China, Russia and Mongolia inked a development plan on Thursday to build an economic corridor linking the three neighbors, pledging to boost transportation connectivity and economic cooperation in border regions. The plan was signed after a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj in the Uzbek capital of Tashkent, ahead of an annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). While chairing the trilateral meeting, the third of its kind, the Chinese president reviewed the achievements the three countries have made in implementing their mid-term roadmap for cooperation, saying progress and positive results have been made in such areas as trade and economy, cultural and people-to-people exchange...

박 대통령, 몽골 공식 방문 통해 양국 경제 협력 강화 예정 President Park Geun-hye is set to travel to Mongolia to attend the ASEM summit on Thursday. It's going to be another exhausting trip as she has a jam-packed shedule including a one on one with her counterpart in that country. Song Ji-sun shares with us the President's itinerary. Mongolia's GDP is only 1-percent of Korea's... at just 12-billion U.S. dollars. But the country's connection with Seoul is stronger than its economy of scale. Korea is Mongolia's fourth largest trade partner... and one-percent of its population, or 30-thousand Mongolians live in Korean cities. A separate 12-thousand Mongolians visit Korea for medical treatment every year... making Mongolia Korea's fifth largest market for medical tourism. President Park Geun-hye's summit ta...

It must have been Moonglow,
That led me straight to you
I still hear you sayin'

Heavenly songs seem to come from everywhere,
And now when there's Moonglow,

I always remember,
That Moonglow gave me you
That Moonglow gave me you

Heavenly songs seemed to come from everywhere,
And now when there's Moonglow
