John G. "Jack" Trice (1902 – October 8, 1923) was a football player who became the first African-American athlete from Iowa State College (now Iowa State University). At the time he played for Iowa State, he was also the only African-American competing in sports for any of the Big Six Conference schools. Trice died due to injuries suffered during a college football game against the University of Minnesota on October 6, 1923.
Trice was born in Hiram, Ohio in 1902, the son of a former slave and Buffalo Soldier, Green Trice. As a child, Trice was active in sports and demonstrated outstanding athletic skills. In 1918, Trice’s mother sent him to Cleveland, Ohio to live with an uncle. Trice attended East Technical High School where he played football. In 1922, Trice followed five of his teammates, as well as his former high school coach, Sam Willaman, to Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa.
While attending Iowa State, Trice participated in track and football (primarily as a tackle). He majored in animal husbandry, with the desire to go to the South after graduation, and use his knowledge to help African-American farmers. His dream job was to eventually teach Southern black farmers about modern farming. In the summer after his freshman year at the age of 20, Trice married Cora Mae Starland, who was only 15. They both found jobs in order to support themselves through school. Trice also was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, and initiated through the Alpha Nu chapter (Drake and Iowa State University).
Jack Trice Stadium (originally Cyclone Stadium and formerly Jack Trice Field) is a stadium, in Ames, Iowa, United States. It is primarily used for college football, and is the home field of the Iowa State Cyclones. It opened on September 20, 1975, with a 17–12 win over Air Force.
It is the third-largest stadium by capacity in the Big 12 Conference and the third-newest in the conference, behind only Milan Puskar Stadium of West Virginia (which had its design based on Jack Trice Stadium) and Baylor's McLane Stadium. Including hillside seats in the corners of the stadium, the facility's official capacity is 61,500. The school announced in May 2014 a planned expansion to 61,500.
The current record for single-game attendance, 61,500, was set on September 5, 2015, when the Cyclones defeated the University of Northern Iowa by a score of 31-7.
Jack Trice Stadium replaced Clyde Williams Field, which had been in use from 1914 through 1974. Williams Field was closed in 1975 and razed in 1978, and Martin and Eaton residence halls now stand on the ground.

Jack may refer to:
A stadium (plural stadiums or stadia) is a place or venue for (mostly) outdoor sports, concerts, or other events and consists of a field or stage either partly or completely surrounded by a tiered structure designed to allow spectators to stand or sit and view the event.
Pausanias noted that for about half a century the only event at the ancient Greek Olympic festival was the race that comprised one length of the stade at Olympia, where the word "stadium" originated.
"Stadium" is the Latin form of the Greek word "stadion" (στάδιον), a measure of length equalling the length of 600 human feet. As feet are of variable length the exact length of a stadion depends on the exact length adopted for 1 foot at a given place and time. Although in modern terms 1 stadion = 600 ft (180 m), in a given historical context it may actually signify a length up to 15% larger or smaller.
The equivalent Roman measure, the stadium, had a similar length — about 185 m (607 ft) - but instead of being defined in feet was defined using the Roman standard passus to be a distance of 125 passūs (double-paces).

The Iowa State coaches are back on the bus for bound for Newton and Waterloo on the Cyclone Tailgate Tour. We are bringing back Take The Hint from last week's episode. This game is similar to the old game show Password... Each team will have a chance to get their captain to identify as many words as they can in 90 seconds, but the teammates may only give their captain ONE word clues. The captain will only get ONE guess to give the correct answer and each correct answer scores a point. If they are wrong we will move on to the next word. There is no limit to the number of ONE word clues the teammates can give, but remember this is timed gamed so the more words you get the better your score! Can the Cyclone coaches Take The Hint?
