This video was submitted with my PhD thesis in 1994. It shows then state-of-the-art results in visual servoing, using a Puma 560 robot and a rack full of high-speed image processing equipment. That's what it took back then. The first part was filmed at the GRASP Lab in 1988/9. You can find the thesis itself at https://minerva-access.unimelb.edu.au/handle/11343/38847

Aircraft can use laser beams for point-to-point communications, but the laser light can be affected or disrupted by atmospheric conditions. A mirror that changes shape, known as a “deformable mirror”, can be used to correct the scrambled signal, but the mechanical movements of the mirror surface are relatively slow, which means they cannot change fast enough to cope with rapidly changing air currents. A plasma can be used to provide a rapidly changing lens that may replace the deformable mirror for aircraft communications. Prof Thomas Corke from the University of Notre Dame explains how.

In celebration of the International Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems' 10th year anniversary, the editorial team has launched a new section focusing on robotics-rekated videos as an addition to the journal’s current portfolio. The first video we are thrilled to publish is our team’s interview with Peter Corke, roboticist active in fields of Visual Servoing, Field Robotics, Machine Vision and the employment of MATLAB toolboxes in specific areas of robotics. In this interview, Peter Corke takes an interesting retrospective on the differences between the field of robotics now and when he just started his carried 30 years ago, also pointing out to what strikes him as the most important milestones in robotics in the past 10 years. He goes on sharing his view on the role of editorship and the...

David Evans, Jo Nova, Nick Minchin and Anna Rose — the full unedited video From joannenova.com.au When the Smith and Nasht came to our house (on behalf of the ABC) to take footage for the "I can change your mind" documentary, David and I asked fellow skeptic and camera-man Barry Corke if he could film them filming us, so we have our own copy of what happened. He agreed — it was obvious to all of us that we needed some insurance against biased edits. We all knew that petty chicanery was possible. James Delingpole had recently given the BBC three good hours of his time, only to find they trimmed all of his clever answers down, waited for him to have a hypoglycemic vague moment and then crowed about how the great James Delingpole was, can you believe, tongue tied (the failure!) In the fina...

Film, oparty na książce Marthy Tod Dudman, opowiada historię Augusty (Mika Boorem), nastolatki wchodzącej w okres młodzieńczego buntu. Jej matka, Martha (Sharon Lawrence) i brat Jack (Sage Testini) z przerażeniem patrzą na zmiany, jakie zachodzą w życiu młodej dziewczyny.

In this lecture we discuss in more detail the equation of image formation, particularly their expression in matrix form using homogeneous coordinates. We then introduce the planar homography, a mapping from points in a world plane to the image plane, and show some examples of how this can be used for real problems.
This documentary deals with a very rare and unusual prion disease called Fatal Familial Insomnia or FFI for short. FFI is a prion disease that targets the thalamus, of which of its many functions is the sleep regulator of the body. The prions form aggregates of amyloid plaques that destroy the neurons in this area. The age of onset is variable, ranging from 30 to 60, with an average of 50. However the disease tends to prominently occur in later years, primarily following childbirth. Death usually occurs between 7 and 36 months from onset. The presentation of the disease varies considerably from person to person, even among patients from within the same family. The disease has four stages, taking 7 to 18 months to run its course: The patient suffers increasing insomnia, resulting in pani...

Newer version of this, visit robotacademy.net.au In this lecture we go back to considering the features of a blob, previously we discussed how to compute its position and area, here we consider ways to describe shape and orientation. We then discuss mathematical morphology, a powerful image processing technique that filters blobs according to their size and shape.
Newer version of this, visit robotacademy.net.au In this lecture we look at the phenomena underlying the human perception of color, the spectral characteristics of light entering the eye which is a function of the light source and the object it reflects from. We discuss blackbody radiators, Planck's law and several non-Planckian sources such as LEDs, lasers and compact fluorescent lights. We also discuss luminosity which is the ratio of light source power to perceived brightness.
I knew you
Before you entered through the deadly door
It's eaten away at you
It's given you the edge
You're dreaming of returning
But you don't think you can
(You don't think you can)
They don't sell the product to you
They sell you to the product
They don't give a fuck about you
They just want their deadly dosh
I wish you could see through this
I wish you could believe
That you can really do this
I know you can
Cuz i knew you
Before you entered through the deadly door
It's eaten away at you
It's given you the edge
You're dreaming of returning
But you don't think you can
You don't think you can
They don't want to know about
Your aspirations
They don't care about where they are
Sending you to
They dont't mind they don't mind
To blacken your stream
They are pulling you along
So when will you see
That i knew you
Before you entered through the deadly door
It's eaten away at you
It's given you the edge
You're dreaming of returning
Cuz i knew you
Before you entered through the deadly door
It's eaten away at you
It's given you the edge
You're dreaming of returning
(dreaming of returning
you are dreaming of returning to that
to that same world
