This is a video about the basics of PC modding with acrylic. I tell you all the little tips and tricks I've learned from modding cases myself. Below is a list of all the tools I use to mod, and a few links to video examples of the kind of mods you can do with acrylic.

I use acrylic in most of my case mods, if you want to see other examples of things you can do with this material just surf the showcased mod videos on my channel (or any other PC modders channel, everyone uses this stuff) :P
I mention in the video indoor vinyl is preferred. This is true for less detailed designs, but if you are doing an extremely detailed design with many small pieces, the indoor vinyl will be more difficult to peel transfer paper off of and leave the small details behind correctly. It's still possible to do, but outdoor/"permanent" vinyl will leave behind tiny pieces more effectively. Outdoor vinyl is linked below along with indoor.

There are many thicknesses of VHB tape, thicker tapes like the mounting tape are good for inside of the case but you will probably want thinner tapes if you're mounting to the outside of your case, to prevent a visible gap between your case and acrylic. Project Infinity a DIY Water Cooled Custom PC - Computer Modding - Liquid Cooling - Part 1. Today i want to share with you all a new project of mine that i called project infinity to represent gigabytes 30th anniversary logo. This pc mod is fully custom and is a neat Little DIY project that i have used a lot of acrylic or plexi glass as it is also known, to mod the pc in some awesome ways. Acrylic Modding is a great way to start your own DIY custom case mod.
As a youtuber my goal with these diy water cooled custom pc projects is to try and help people in such a way to promote computer modding or modding a computer and making it easy for the viewer to try something similar to this at home. I always try to do a lot of work with acrylic also known as plexi glass because modding with acrylic is cheap and you also do not have to damage your custom case in order to actually go full DIY on the water cooled computer project. So i do definatly reccomend modding a pc with acrylic for that awesome custom DIY look that is easy for anyone to achieve! I hope you all enjoy my Project Infinity, a DIY Water Cooled Custom PC.

Finally finished the Fallout case! Thanks Josh for sponsoring this mod! This case is better than the last one I did, hopefully that trend continues as I get better at case modding. This is the rosewill viper z, which comes with three blue LED fans included. It should look awesome having blue LEDs shining through the front grille all the time. If I had the components to go inside the case, not only would I have totally modded those too but I'd totally have showed off those LED fans :)
I used 2 part epoxy to give the front panel a bit more rigidity on the bottom as well. You can get this at any hardware store. The thickness of the acrylic plates was 3mm, and the scroll saw I used was the dremel moto saw. Paint is rustoleum enamel.

Gaming computer
A gaming computer (also gaming rig and sometimes called a gaming PC) is a personal computer designed for playing computationally demanding video games. Gaming computers are very similar to conventional PCs, with the main difference being the addition of gaming-oriented components such as one or more high-end video cards. Gaming computers are often associated with enthusiast computing due to an overlap in interests. However, while a gaming PC is built to achieve performance for actual gameplay, enthusiast PCs are built to maximize performance, using games as a benchmark. The difference between the two carries a large discrepancy in the cost of the system. Whereas enthusiast PCs are high-end by definition, gaming PCs can be subdivided into low-end, mid-range, and high-end segments. Contrary to the popular misconception that PC gaming is inextricably tied to high-priced enthusiast computing, video card manufacturers earn the bulk of their revenue from their low-end and mid-range offerings.

Case modding
Case modification, commonly referred to as case modding, is the modification of a computer case or a video game console chassis. Modifying a computer case in any non-standard way is considered a case mod. Modding is done, particularly by hardware enthusiasts, to show off a computer's apparent power by showing off the internal hardware, and also to make it look aesthetically pleasing to the owner.
Cases may also be modified to improve a computer's performance; this is usually associated with cooling and involves changes to components as well as the case.
History
When personal computers first became available to the public, the majority were produced in simple, beige-colored cases. This design is sometimes referred to be as a beige box. Although this met the purpose of containing the components of the personal computer, many users considered their computers as "tacky" or "dull", and some began modifying their existing chassis, or building their own from scratch. One of the original case mods is the "Macquarium", which consists of replacing the CRT screen in a Compact Macintosh case with a fishbowl.

Computer case
A computer case also known as a computer chassis, tower, system unit, cabinet, base unit or simply case and sometimes incorrectly referred to as the "CPU" or "hard drive", is the enclosure that contains most of the components of a computer (usually excluding the display, keyboard and mouse).
Cases are usually constructed from steel (often SECC — Steel, electrogalvanized, cold-rolled, coil) or aluminium. Plastic is sometimes used, and other materials such as glass, wood and even Lego blocks have appeared in home-built cases.
Sizes
Cases can come in many different sizes (known as form factors). The size and shape of a computer case is usually determined by the form factor of the motherboard, since it is the largest component of most computers. Consequently, personal computer form factors typically specify only the internal dimensions and layout of the case. Form factors for rack-mounted and blade servers may include precise external dimensions as well, since these cases must themselves fit in specific enclosures.

This pc mod is fully custom and is a neat Little DIY project that i have used a lot of acrylic or plexi glass as it is also known, to mod the pc in some awesome ways. Acrylic Modding is a great way to start your own DIY custom case mod. As a youtuber my goal with these diy water cooled custom pc projects is to try and help people in such a way to promote computer modding or modding a computer and making it easy for the viewer to try something similar to this at home. I always try to do a lot of work with acrylic also known as plexi glass because modding with acrylic is cheap and you also do not have to damage your custom case in order to actually go full DIY on the water cooled computer project. Finally finished the Fallout case! Thanks Josh for sponsoring this mod! This case is better than the last one I did, hopefully that trend continues as I get better at case modding. This is the rosewill viper z, which comes with three blue LED fans included. It should look awesome having blue LEDs shining through the front grille all the time. If I had the components to go inside the case, not only would I have totally modded those too but I'd totally have showed off those LED fans :) I used 2 part epoxy to give the front panel a bit more rigidity on the bottom as well. You can get this at any hardware store. The thickness of the acrylic plates was 3mm, and the scroll saw I used was the dremel moto saw. Paint is rustoleum enamel. I use acrylic in most of my case mods, if you want to see other examples of things you can do with this material just surf the showcased mod videos on my channel (or any other PC modders channel, everyone uses this stuff) :P
I mention in the video indoor vinyl is preferred. This is true for less detailed designs, but if you are doing an extremely detailed design with many small pieces, the indoor vinyl will be more difficult to peel transfer paper off of and leave the small details behind correctly. It's still possible to do, but outdoor/"permanent" vinyl will leave behind tiny pieces more effectively. Outdoor vinyl is linked below along with indoor.

There are many thicknesses of VHB tape, thicker tapes like the mounting tape are good for inside of the case but you will probably want thinner tapes if you're mounting to the outside of your case, to prevent a visible gap between your case and acrylic. Project Infinity a DIY Water Cooled Custom PC - Computer Modding - Liquid Cooling - Part 1. Today i want to share with you all a new project of mine that i called project infinity to represent gigabytes 30th anniversary logo. This pc mod is fully custom and is a neat Little DIY project that i have used a lot of acrylic or plexi glass as it is also known, to mod the pc in some awesome ways. Acrylic Modding is a great way to start your own DIY custom case mod.
As a youtuber my goal with these diy water cooled custom pc projects is to try and help people in such a way to promote computer modding or modding a computer and making it easy for the viewer to try something similar to this at home. I always try to do a lot of work with acrylic also known as plexi glass because modding with acrylic is cheap and you also do not have to damage your custom case in order to actually go full DIY on the water cooled computer project. So i do definatly reccomend modding a pc with acrylic for that awesome custom DIY look that is easy for anyone to achieve! I hope you all enjoy my Project Infinity, a DIY Water Cooled Custom PC.

Finally finished the Fallout case! Thanks Josh for sponsoring this mod! This case is better than the last one I did, hopefully that trend continues as I get better at case modding. This is the rosewill viper z, which comes with three blue LED fans included. It should look awesome having blue LEDs shining through the front grille all the time. If I had the components to go inside the case, not only would I have totally modded those too but I'd totally have showed off those LED fans :)
I used 2 part epoxy to give the front panel a bit more rigidity on the bottom as well. You can get this at any hardware store. The thickness of the acrylic plates was 3mm, and the scroll saw I used was the dremel moto saw. Paint is rustoleum enamel.

Finally finished the Fallout case! Thanks Josh for sponsoring this mod! This case is better than the last one I did, hopefully that trend continues as I get better at case modding. This is the rosewill viper z, which comes with three blue LED fans included. It should look awesome having blue LEDs shining through the front grille all the time. If I had the components to go inside the case, not only would I have totally modded those too but I'd totally have showed off those LED fans :)
I used 2 part epoxy to give the front panel a bit more rigidity on the bottom as well. You can get this at any hardware store. The thickness of the acrylic plates was 3mm, and the scroll saw I used was the dremel moto saw. Paint is rustoleum enamel.

I mention in the video indoor vinyl is preferred. This is true for less detailed designs, but if you are doing an extremely detailed design with many small pieces, the indoor vinyl will be more difficult to peel transfer paper off of and leave the small details behind correctly. It's still possible to do, but outdoor/"permanent" vinyl will leave behind tiny pieces more effectively. Outdoor vinyl is linked below along with indoor.

There are many thicknesses of VHB tape, thicker tapes like the mounting tape are good for inside of the case but you will probably want thinner tapes if you're mounting to the outside of your case, to prevent a visible gap between your case and acrylic. I use acrylic in most of my case mods, if you want to see other examples of things you can do with this material just surf the showcased mod videos on my channel (or any other PC modders channel, everyone uses this stuff) :P
I mention in the video indoor vinyl is preferred. This is true for less detailed designs, but if you are doing an extremely detailed design with many small pieces, the indoor vinyl will be more difficult to peel transfer paper off of and leave the small details behind correctly. It's still possible to do, but outdoor/"permanent" vinyl will leave behind tiny pieces more effectively. Outdoor vinyl is linked below along with indoor.

Project Infinity a DIY Water Cooled Custom PC - Computer Modding - Liquid Cooling - Part 1. Today i want to share with you all a new project of mine that i called project infinity to represent gigabytes 30th anniversary logo. This pc mod is fully custom and is a neat Little DIY project that i have used a lot of acrylic or plexi glass as it is also known, to mod the pc in some awesome ways. Acrylic Modding is a great way to start your own DIY custom case mod.
As a youtuber my goal with these diy water cooled custom pc projects is to try and help people in such a way to promote computer modding or modding a computer and making it easy for the viewer to try something similar to this at home. I always try to do a lot of work with acrylic also known as plexi glass because modding with acrylic is cheap and you also do not have to damage your custom case in order to actually go full DIY on the water cooled computer project. So i do definatly reccomend modding a pc with acrylic for that awesome custom DIY look that is easy for anyone to achieve! I hope you all enjoy my Project Infinity, a DIY Water Cooled Custom PC.

Finally finished the Fallout case! Thanks Josh for sponsoring this mod! This case is better than the last one I did, hopefully that trend continues as I get better at case modding. This is the rosewill viper z, which comes with three blue LED fans included. It should look awesome having blue LEDs shining through the front grille all the time. If I had the components to go inside the case, not only would I have totally modded those too but I'd totally have showed off those LED fans :)
I used 2 part epoxy to give the front panel a bit more rigidity on the bottom as well. You can get this at any hardware store. The thickness of the acrylic plates was 3mm, and the scroll saw I used was the dremel moto saw. Paint is rustoleum enamel.
