Adele announces Australian tour
English pop superstar Adele will tour Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide in early 2017. Vision: Today Show, Channel Nine
Adele has sold more than 100 million records globally, with hits including Hello and Rolling in the Deep.
Sport Minister Curtis Pitt said the Grammy winner's highly anticipated show would be the first major concert at The Gabba since Aussie band Sherbert in 1973.
"This will be one of the most anticipated concerts of the year and the first big concert at The Gabba with fans seated in both the stands and on the field," Mr Pitt said.
"Being at The Gabba, it would be fitting if Adele sang Sherbert's Howzat, but I'm not sure that'll happen unless it's a duet with Daryl Braithwaite."
Adele announced the tour in a handwritten note posted to Twitter, taking inspiration from her massive 2015 hit Hello to deliver the news.
"G'Day, it's me," she wrote.
"I was wondering if after 10 years in this game you'd finally like to meet me in: Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide?"

The concert will feature a circular stage, with a crowd of 60,000 expected, including 24,000 on the field.
"We haven't had a concert of this magnitude at The Gabba and I expect pubs and restaurants in the Woolloongabba precinct will benefit from a boost in patronage before and after the event," Mr Pitt said.
About 1500 staff will work on the night to make the show happen, including catering, hospitality, security and event operations.
Adele let slip that an Australian tour was likely while on stage in the US earlier this year. It will be the first Australian tour for Adele.
Tickets go on sale on Monday, November 21 via www.ticketmaster.com.au, with a pre-sale to be announced by the promoter.
In a much more intimate gig, UK pop star Leo Sayer played to about 600 fans at the stadium in front of the Queensland Cricketers' Club stands on November 5.
