Media reports indicate the new administration will make cuts that will hurt non-commercial media outlets across the United States. The arts, news, culture and music audiences know and love will likely die should these drastic cuts take place. Community media and its friends nationwide must stand up now to support of the vision President Johnson forwarded more than two generations ago.

Morning Maine Featured Artists of the Week: C.J. Chenier & The Red Hot Louisiana Band
Zydeco great C. J. Chenier & The Red Hot Louisiana Band has the spotlight January 30-February 3rd. Each morning our volunteer programmers will play a cut of C.J. and the band's music and give away a FREE pair of tickets to their upcoming show at the Camden Opera House on Thursday, February 9 at 7 PM.
Clayton Joseph Chenier was born September 28, 1957 - the son of the great King of Zydeco, Clifton Chenier. C.J.'s father was the first Creole musician to win a Grammy Award. C.J. spent his childhood in the tough tenement housing projects of Port Arthur, Texas. His earliest musical influences were an eclectic mix of funk, soul, jazz and Motown, and his first musical instruments were piano, tenor saxophone and flute. It wasn't until his 21st birthday, after winning a scholarship and studying music at Texas Southern University, that C.J. first performed with his famous father and the legendary Red Hot Louisiana band.
