NEAR MERCEDES - A commissioner said he is taking a closer look into a Rio Grande Valley road straddling over two counties.

Precinct 4 Cameron County Commissioner Gus Ruiz said his staff is trying to figure out the exact boundaries before taking on road maintenance.

Janie Luna said she’s shared her concerns over the rough road conditions on Mile 3 East near Mercedes. The road is a barrier between Hidalgo and Cameron County.

Ruiz said in 1999, Cameron County entered into an agreement with Hidalgo County to maintain the south part of Mile 3.
