Everything you need to know about finding a Garden Statue Supplier

There was a time when statues were only for large gardens and were considered ostentatious or pretentious. This is no longer the case and garden statues are rapidly replacing the more traditional large tree in the back yard. This is happening for several reasons:
  • Our gardens are getting smaller and do not have room for a large tree
  • We are looking for ways to reduce water consumption in our gardens
  • We want an individual look for our garden
  • There is an ever growing range of garden statues available

Decorative vs. Functional Garden Statues

Decorative statues are there just for their beauty, interest and to draw the eye to that part of a garden. They need to be placed out of the way of garden traffic areas like pathways and away from fences and gates as they can be bumped or broken more easily.

Functional garden statues that  are formed into extensions like bird feeders, fountains and plant pot holders in the form of human, animal or mythical forms to name a few. These can be placed in areas where they will be used by the garden wildlife as well as being admired by the residents and visitors to the garden.

Choosing Garden Statues

Here are some examples of themes you could develop in your garden, even if you are renting:
  • Mythical: The world of fairies, goblins and gargoyles. These statues tend to be small and can be discreetly placed under bushes, at the edges of pathways and hung on walls. It’s best not to have a centrepiece with a theme like this, but rather let the statues be discovered by those who are interested in looking for them.
  • Religious: You can give your garden the atmosphere of a shrine by adding statues and icons representing your spiritual beliefs. You should be aware that it is possible to offend other people with this garden theme, so it would be better done in the back garden with subtle symbolism rather than overtly putting a huge brightly painted statue of Jesus in the front garden.
  • Ancient: Here you have given yourself license to put one large statue of a bare breasted beauty or Atlas with the world on his shoulders right in the centre of your garden and you can happily justify placing other, smaller Venus de Milo, Zeus, Cupid or Cleopatra wherever you like. The best setting for this type of theme is in a garden with symmetrical pathways and a more formal look.

You can find garden statues in many places, but the most common are garden centres, landscape garden outlets and plant nurseries.
