Syria War 2015 - Syrian Army Tanks Raid Through Rebel Held Area During Urban Combat Operations In Jobar. Onboard GoPro turret cam footage of Syrian Army T-72 tank raid through rebel held territory in the buisiness sector of Jobar, Damascus. The combat operation was supported by artillery fire and is part of the ongoing clashes and fighting in the battle for Jobar inwich the Syrian Army aims to crush the rebel presence in the area. It is assumed that the opponents of the Syrian Army where members of the Islamic Front holding the area. According to Syrian Army sources the Syrian Arab Army made big advances in the buisiness sector of Jobar but the battle is still ongoing. This video was shot by several GoPro cameras mounted on the turrets of the tanks engaging in the battle and shows the common way of Syrian Army urban combat operations with tanks.

Army units thwarted on Friday morning an attack launched by terrorists of the so called “Jaish al-Islam” and “al-Rahman Legion” on the army points in Jobar neighborhood on the eastern outskirts of Damascus.
21 октября 2016 Сирийская армия отразила атаку террористов в районе Джобар (Дамаск).
Военный командир в районе Джобар сообщил, что террористы около 6 часов утра предприняли попытку проникновения на армейские позиции через туннель на юго-западе пригорода. Военнослужащие дали достойный отпор боевикам, ликвидировав 8 из них и уничтожив их оборудование. При отражении атаки они использовали легкое и среднее оружие.
Командир также сообщил, что данное нападение террористов было совершено, чтобы отвлечь внимание от другой группировки боевиков, пытавшейся приблизиться на окраину пригорода Джобар со стороны моста Айн Терма.
Обе попытки террористов потерпели провал, ликвидировано и ранено множество боевиков, а также было разгромлено их оружие.
Другой военный командир сообщил, что террористические группировки также подвергли ракетным и минометным обстрелам жилые кварталы, расположенные рядом с Джобаром, в том числе Аль-Аббассиин, подчеркнув, что армейские подразделения ответили артиллерийскими и танковыми ударами по местам, откуда велся обстрел.

Jobar
Jobar (Arabic: جوبر) also spelled Jawbar or Joubar, is a municipality of the Syrian capital Damascus. A once historical village on the outskirts of Damascus, it is now a suburb of the capital city. It lies 2 km northeast of the old city walls. It contains the most venerated site for Syrian Jews, an ancient 2,000-year-old synagogue and shrine in commemoration of the biblical prophet Elijah, which has been a place of Jewish pilgrimage for many centuries. In 2013, during the Syrian civil war, it was the site of several chemical attacks. Today Jobar lies in ruins due to ongoing battles between regular Syrian Army and various opposition groups.
History
One of the earliest sources mentioning the existence of the village is from the Talmud, which states that the village was one of ten surrounding Damascus inhabited by Jews. Rabbi Rafram bar Pappa was recorded as having prayed in the synagogue of Jobar. During the medieval period, it was "the most important and longest lasting Jewish community outside of the old city walls." An anonymous Jewish traveller who arrived a few years after the Spanish immigration (1522) found 60 Jewish families living in the village of Jobar, who had a "very beautiful synagogue."Ibn Tulun (died 1546) mentions that "Jobar is a Jewish village with a Muslim presence." The "Chronicle" of Joseph Sambari (1672) says that the Jewish community of Damascus lived chiefly in Jobar and in 1735 the village was populated solely by Jews.

The combat operation was supported by artillery fire and is part of the ongoing clashes and fighting in the battle for Jobar inwich the Syrian Army aims to crush the rebel presence in the area. It is assumed that the opponents of the Syrian Army where members of the Islamic Front holding the area. According to Syrian Army sources the Syrian Arab Army made big advances in the buisiness sector of Jobar but the battle is still ongoing. This video was shot by several GoPro cameras mounted on the turrets of the tanks engaging in the battle and shows the common way of Syrian Army urban combat operations with tanks.
