Graham is the TAC’s latest road safety project, highlighting how vulnerable the human body is to the forces involved in transport accidents.
The TAC collaborated with leading trauma surgeon Christian Kenfield, crash investigator expert David Logan and world-renowned artist Patricia Piccinini, to produce Graham - an interactive, lifelike interactive sculpture demonstrating human vulnerability.
Studies show the human body can only cope with impact speeds people can reach on their own, unassisted by vehicles. Graham has been designed with bodily features that might be present in humans if they had evolved to withstand the forces involved in crashes.
When visiting Graham, visitors will have access to the latest immersive augmented reality technology, to look beneath Graham’s skin and better understand how his unique features would work to cushion him from serious injury in a crash.

An unusual human sculpture, named Graham, has been created by renowned Melbourne artist Patricia Piccinini in collaboration with a leading trauma surgeon and crash investigation expert.
Humans would have to look something like Graham in order to survive a crash, according to the Transport Accident Commission (TAC).
Graham has a large thick skull, is lacking a neck, and has sacks of air on his chest to act like car airbags.
Piccinini used silicone, fibreglass, resin and human hair to make him.
The TAC said the campaign was different from its usual campaigns and was designed to highlight human vulnerability on the road.
"Our vulnerabilities are at the heart of everything that we do in road safety - how do we protect ourselves on our roads," TAC chief executive officer Joe Calafiore said.
Royal Melbourne Hospital trauma surgeon Christian Kenfield said Graham had been designed to build on naturally occurring mechanisms in the human body.
"One of the real injuries that we have as humans in a high-speed car crash is a neck injury, a cervical spine fracture or dislocation of the ligaments as the head flexes forward and then hyper-extends back," he said.
"The head is quite heavy and at rest we all have the neck muscles to hold the head upright and move it as we need to.
"But in a car crash we don't have the strength to stop that whip lashing injury that is so sudden and so forceful that it often causes catastrophic effects."
As part of the campaign an online interactive educational tool has also been developed where users can look under Graham's skin and understand the workings of his body.
Graham will be on display at the State Library of Victoria until August 8.

Lukas Graham
Lukas Graham is a Danish soul pop band consisting of Lukas Graham Forchhammer (vocals), Mark "Lovestick" Falgren (drums), Magnus “Magnúm” Larsson (bass) and Kasper Daugaard (keyboard). Launching their debut album in 2012 on Copenhagen Records, Lukas Graham quickly became the most popular live act in Denmark. That success translated to the rest of Europe and caught the attention of Warner Bros. Records who co-signed them in 2013. The band’s music was first introduced worldwide with the release of their two singles "7 Years" and "Mama Said" in October 2015. "7 Years" resonated with many listeners and quickly made its way up numerous Spotify Top 50 Viral and Country charts. Their second album is expected to be released in 2016.
Career
2011–12: Career beginnings
The band started its career in Denmark in late 2011 when it released two homemade YouTube videos of the band performing Criminal Mind and Drunk in the Morning, recorded in Lukas' home. The videos were shared on Facebook among friends, and soon they had several hundred thousand views. The band's soulful and funky sound quickly spread in the Copenhagen underground and through online postings, which led Copenhagen Records to sign them. Lukas Graham achieved commercial success in October 2011 with the release of its debut single. Its first Danish tour sold over 30,000 concert tickets, even though its album had not been released yet.

Benedict Cumberbatch
Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch CBE (born 19 July 1976) is an English actor and film producer who has performed in film, television, theatre and radio. The son of actors Timothy Carlton and Wanda Ventham, he graduated from the University of Manchester and continued his training at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, obtaining a Master of Arts in Classical Acting. He first performed at the Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park in Shakespearean productions such as Love's Labour's Lost (2001), A Midsummer Night's Dream (2001), and Romeo and Juliet (2002). He also portrayed George Tesman in Richard Eyre's revival of Hedda Gabler in 2005 and since then has starred in the Royal National Theatre productions After the Dance (2010) and Frankenstein (2011). In 2015, he played William Shakespeare's Hamlet at the Barbican Theatre.
Cumberbatch's television work includes appearances in Heartbeat (2000), Silent Witness (2002) and Fortysomething (2003) before starring as Stephen Hawking in the television film Hawking in 2004. He has played Sherlock Holmes in the series Sherlock since 2010. He has also starred in Tom Stoppard's adaptation of Parade's End (2012), as well as providing the voices of the British Prime Minister and Severus Snape on an episode of the animated series The Simpsons (2013).

The Graham Norton Show
The Graham Norton Show is a British comedy chat show broadcast on BBC One in the United Kingdom. It was shown on BBC Two from February 2007 to May 2009 and has been on BBC One since October 2009. Presented by Irish comedian Graham Norton, the show's format is very similar to his previous Channel 4 programmes, So Graham Norton and V Graham Norton, both of which were also produced by So Television.
Programming

The show mirrors So and V with strong adult humour along with Graham's monologue at the beginning of the show and often a musical guest to play out over the credits. Although the rude objects in "Graham's drawer" did not survive, the phone calls and hidden camera surprises have. These surprises are sometimes based around the guests, such as Sarah Beeny's dating website, a TARDIS on the South Bank when David Tennant appeared and a wine-tasting group drinking Gérard Depardieu's wine whilst he was on the show. Some of the surprises, such as the wine-tasting, have been arranged through ideas submitted by viewers, stating where they will be when the show is recorded.

The TAC said the campaign was different from its usual campaigns and was designed to highlight human vulnerability on the road. "Our vulnerabilities are at the heart of everything that we do in road safety - how do we protect ourselves on our roads," TAC chief executive officer Joe Calafiore said. Royal Melbourne Hospital trauma surgeon Christian Kenfield said Graham had been designed to build on naturally occurring mechanisms in the human body. "One of the real injuries that we have as humans in a high-speed car crash is a neck injury, a cervical spine fracture or dislocation of the ligaments as the head flexes forward and then hyper-extends back," he said. "The head is quite heavy and at rest we all have the neck muscles to hold the head upright and move it as we need to. "But in a car crash we don't have the strength to stop that whip lashing injury that is so sudden and so forceful that it often causes catastrophic effects." As part of the campaign an online interactive educational tool has also been developed where users can look under Graham's skin and understand the workings of his body. Graham will be on display at the State Library of Victoria until August 8. -

Graham is the TAC’s latest road safety project, highlighting how vulnerable the human body is to the forces involved in transport accidents.
The TAC collaborated with leading trauma surgeon Christian Kenfield, crash investigator expert David Logan and world-renowned artist Patricia Piccinini, to produce Graham - an interactive, lifelike interactive sculpture demonstrating human vulnerability.
Studies show the human body can only cope with impact speeds people can reach on their own, unassisted by vehicles. Graham has been designed with bodily features that might be present in humans if they had evolved to withstand the forces involved in crashes.
When visiting Graham, visitors will have access to the latest immersive augmented reality technology, to look beneath Graham’s skin and better understand how his unique features would work to cushion him from serious injury in a crash.

An unusual human sculpture, named Graham, has been created by renowned Melbourne artist Patricia Piccinini in collaboration with a leading trauma surgeon and crash investigation expert.
Humans would have to look something like Graham in order to survive a crash, according to the Transport Accident Commission (TAC).
Graham has a large thick skull, is lacking a neck, and has sacks of air on his chest to act like car airbags.
Piccinini used silicone, fibreglass, resin and human hair to make him.
The TAC said the campaign was different from its usual campaigns and was designed to highlight human vulnerability on the road.
"Our vulnerabilities are at the heart of everything that we do in road safety - how do we protect ourselves on our roads," TAC chief executive officer Joe Calafiore said.
Royal Melbourne Hospital trauma surgeon Christian Kenfield said Graham had been designed to build on naturally occurring mechanisms in the human body.
"One of the real injuries that we have as humans in a high-speed car crash is a neck injury, a cervical spine fracture or dislocation of the ligaments as the head flexes forward and then hyper-extends back," he said.
"The head is quite heavy and at rest we all have the neck muscles to hold the head upright and move it as we need to.
"But in a car crash we don't have the strength to stop that whip lashing injury that is so sudden and so forceful that it often causes catastrophic effects."
As part of the campaign an online interactive educational tool has also been developed where users can look under Graham's skin and understand the workings of his body.
Graham will be on display at the State Library of Victoria until August 8.
