Niall Breslin (born 24 October 1980), known as Bressie, is an Irish musician and former Westmeath Gaelic footballer as well as Leinster rugby player. He found success as the lead singer, guitarist and songwriter with pop band The Blizzards, as a co-writer and producer with 19 Entertainment and as a solo artist. He was the winning coach on the first season of The Voice of Ireland.
Born in Dublin to father Enda and mother Mandy, Niall is the second youngest of five children , including siblings Ronan, Laura, Julie and Andrea. At the age of two, he and his family moved to Mullingar. As a result of Enda's military deployment when Niall was thirteen, the Breslins relocated to Israel for six months. The family again returned to Mullingar where he discovered a love and talent for sports as well as music.
Breslin attended University College Dublin on a sports scholarship, graduating with a degree in commerce.
Breslin represented his native county team, Westmeath, in Gaelic football at Minor, Under-21 and Senior Championship levels. He won a Leinster Under-21 Football Championship medal with Westmeath in 2000. Niall also played rugby with Leinster Rugby between 2002 and 2004, earning 14 caps for the province before embarking on his musical career.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Niall Breslin ( Bressie) about his preparations for Ironman 70.3 Dublin on August 7th. The Voice of Ireland Coach, former Westmeath Inter County Footballer and Leinster Rugby player tells me how he got into the sport of triathlon and how he balances a busy schedule with training. His training for Dublin didn't go as smoothly as planned with a recent ankle injury almost seeing him withdraw from the race.
