Illegal, or unlawful, is used to describe something that is prohibited or not authorized by law.
Illegal may also refer to:
A pet or companion animal is an animal kept primarily for a person's company or protection, as opposed to working animals, sport animals, livestock, and laboratory animals, which are kept primarily for performance, agricultural value, or research. The most popular pets are noted for their attractive appearances and their loyal or playful personalities.
Pets commonly provide their owners (or guardians) physical and emotional benefits. Walking a dog can supply both the human and pet with exercise, fresh air, and social interaction. Pets can give companionship to elderly adults who do not have adequate social interaction with other people, as well as other people that are living alone. There is a medically approved class of therapy animals, mostly dogs or cats, that are brought to visit confined humans. Pet therapy utilizes trained animals and handlers to achieve specific physical, social, cognitive, and emotional goals with patients.
The most popular pets are likely dogs and cats, but people also keep house rabbits, ferrets; rodents such as gerbils, hamsters, chinchillas, fancy rats, and guinea pigs; avian pets, such as canaries, parakeets, and parrots; reptile pets, such as turtles, lizards and snakes; aquatic pets, such as goldfish, tropical fish and frogs; and arthropod pets, such as tarantulas and hermit crabs.
Pets like ferrets and hedgehogs have been banned in certain states in the U.S. for decades. Why are they still illegal to own, and why can't we own exotic pets like monkeys and lions? Trace explains how certain wild animals are cute, but would make terrible pets. Wildlife trafficking is estimated to be a $19 billion per year global business, surpassed only by black-market sales and trafficking of drugs, humans, and firearms. In the United States, regulation of private ownership of exotic animals is determined by each state, allowing for loopholes and oversight. Animals are bought and traded through auctions, backyard breeders, illicit online sales and more. The industry is growing right in our backyards. VICE travels to Ohio to rescue a cougar, then to Texas for an exotic livestock auction and undercover visit to a gaming ranch where the animals are sold and hunted for up to $15,000 a piece. Buying illegal wild animals in Kuwait is, as one local puts it, "as easy as acquiring a cupcake." Pets have long been used as status symbols the world over, but citizens of the Gulf take the prize when it comes to keeping the most exotic, controversial species—most commonly, "big cat" cubs. International law governing Kuwait and other Gulf states forbids the import and sale of wild animals, yet the sight of supercars being driven around with a cheetah in the front seat is starting to become commonplace on Arab Instagram feeds. Although there are legal ways to bring an animal into Kuwait, paying people off along the way is easier. Lion, cheetah, and tiger cubs are in the highest demand, fetching up to $15,000 each through black market agents. More often than not, the owners have little id...

SINGAPORE: Pythons and crocodiles are some of the illegal pets authorities have seized from Singapore homes in the past 10 years. In 2012, 19 people were caught having illegal wild animals, the highest since 2006. The number for the first half of 2013 is 10. Experts said these numbers are just the tip of the iceberg. Two albino hedgehogs and two sugar gliders were selling on a local website for S$2,650 in total. The hedgehogs were found covered in faeces and the gliders were kept in tiny food containers. The animals became some of the latest wildlife seizures by Singapore authorities. The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) said it acted on a tip-off, and the man hawking the animals online is assisting with investigations. The animals have been sent to the Wildlife Reserves Sing...
The illegal trade in wild animals has expanded to include exotic species being sold as pets. Boom Live visits Mumbai’s Crawford Market—an old hub for the purchase and sale of exotic-animals. The continued existence of the market is proof that the implementation of India’s Wildlife Protection Act is far from satisfactory and is in fact a brazen statement of apathy of the administration towards the animals. Parrot is a type of colorful bird. There are 372 species of parrots that mostly inhabit tropical and subtropical areas of South and Central America, Asia, Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Few species of parrots prefer life in colder climate. Macaws, Amazons, kea, kaka, lorikeets, parakeets, lovebirds and cockatoos are well known species of parrots. Because of their beauty and intelligence, parrots are one of the most popular pets in the world. Unfortunately, due to illegal pet trade, nearly 100 species of parrots are critically endangered in the wild. Besides illegal pet trade, certain species of parrots are endangered due to habitat loss
The Real King Of The Jungle - Orangutan Documentary - Documentary Films (Official) The orangutans (additionally led to orang-utan, orangutang, or orang-utang) [1] are the two exclusively Asian types of extant great apes. Belonging to Indonesia and Malaysia, orangutans are presently found in only the jungles of Borneo and also Sumatra. Identified in the category Pongo, orangutans were considered to be one species. Nonetheless, given that 1996, they have actually been divided into two types: the Bornean orangutan (P. pygmaeus) and also the Sumatran orangutan (P. abelii). On top of that, the Bornean species is split into 3 subspecies. Based upon genome sequencing, the two extant orangutan varieties obviously diverged around 400,000 years ago. The orangutans are also the only enduring types o...
