Everywhere, around the world, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is there for everyone. A global network of nearly half a million staff and 17 million volunteers, the Red Cross and Red Crescent acts as a force of positive change to the most vulnerable - from responding to needs in disaster and conflict situations, to providing assistance in urban centres and hard to reach areas, and advocating on the behalf of those in need in policy circles and to governments. Guided by our Fundamental Principles, we mobilize the power of humanity to save lives and relieve suffering.
IFRC global disaster response capacity enhanced.
Simon Eccleshall, head of International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) disaster services department, discusses the response of the Haitian Red Cross and supporting Red Cross Red Crescent partners. Services include first aid, mobile field hospitals. "The relief operation is a sprint, the recovery operation is a marathon."

On Sunday April 24th, the Panamanian Red Cross and IFRC delegates took to the streets of San Miguelito, Panama to conduct Community Based Surveillance activities for the Zika Virus. The objectives were to map breeding sites at the household level, identify suspected and confirmed cases of Zika, monitor rumors and misinformation from community members and sensitize, inform and empower families to adopt Zika prevention and control measures.
"Oh Africa"
(with Keri Hilson)
Oh Africa...
I know that we have to take it to the goal 'cause everyone's depending on we
See we ain't got nowhere to go but up, it's our destiny
We're choosing the way, we'll do what it takes to get to the top of the highest mountain
We'll do anything, we got to prove ourselves 'cause we know
Oh Africa...
See we'll never be able to forget this day 'cause it's the greatest day of our life
See no matter what happens at least we can say "we came, we saw, we tried"
We're choosing nowhere, we'll do what it takes to get to the top of the highest mountain
We'll do anything, we got to prove ourselves 'cause we know
Oh Africa...
This is our time to shine, our time to fly, our time to be inside the sky
Our time to soar, our time to saw, the last one in football
