Alec Burks (born July 20, 1991) is an American professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected by the Utah Jazz as the 12th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft, but made his first pro start in his third year with the team. Burks primarily plays the shooting guard position.
He played for the Colorado Buffaloes men's basketball team during his college years, and was most notably the school's first-ever Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Year in 2010. As a sophomore, Burks was statistically the eighteenth-best scorer in the Division I. With Colorado, he missed only a single college game. Burks also gained national attention following his nomination to the Big-12 First Team in second season with the Buffaloes. He entered the 2011 NBA draft shortly after his sophomore year, projected to be a first-round draft pick despite playing just two seasons at Colorado.
Burks attended Grandview High School, where in 2009 he was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Missouri. As a senior, he averaged 23.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.6 steals per game. He was also named the Kansas City Star and Metro Sports Player of the Year during his senior year.

2016 End of Season - Alec Burks
I've made a lot of highlights, so when I make comments on the subject, you can be assured that I know what I'm talking about. So believe me when I say this: Alec Burks has some of the most "highlighty" highlights of any player. His ratio of lame buckets to cool buckets is off the charts. He can't attempt a normal layup; every drive to the basket must feature acrobatic contortions and lots of english. I don't feel like checking, but it seems that most of his buckets are unassisted. Iso-ball, a dying art practiced almost exclusively by the wizened elders of the NBA, lives on in the young Alec Burks. All clips property of the NBA. No copyright infringement is intended.

Gordon Hayward had a season-high 19 points for the Jazz, which has won seven of its last eight. Danilo Gallinari and Nene had 18 points each for the Nuggets, who finished their homestand 2-2. QUOTABLE: "I would probably blame (the loss) on our NBA cool. We thought we were cool after kicking Miami's butt and we got embarrassed. The NBA game does that quite frequently. If you think you're better than you are or you think you're cooler than you are and you don't think you've got to put in the hard work...

I'm not even going to discuss Alec Burks in this description. No, this description is going to talk about the state of TV commentary in the Utah Jazz organization. Frankly, the Jazz commentators just gargle huge taint. I know it's not their fault that they have to talk about Mountain America Credit Union after every made three, but if I were them I would just blurt it really fast and then get back to calling the action. Instead, they treat the advertising jargon as part of the call, complete with emphasis-adding voice inflections. "Learn MORE at Em Ay Cee You...dot COM!!!" They're also contractually obligated to talk about McDonald's at every possible second. So if somebody dunks it especially hard, they're supposed to say "I'm loving it." That's fine. A lot of teams have to do that. Bu...
